cause them to enter equally. I meditate on the ten powers, fearlessness, individual perfect knowledge, and the unmixed dharmas of the Buddhas. I should not generate the thought, "I am practicing the Bodhisattva conduct." Thus, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva should truly show others, cause them to enter, praise them, and make them rejoice. One will not become weary, and because of the method of entry allowed by the Buddhas, cause them to enter and make them rejoice. Kauśika, thus the Bodhisattva Mahasattva should truly show the unsurpassed perfect complete enlightenment, cause them to enter, praise them, and make them rejoice. Thus, a son of good family or a daughter of good family will completely abandon all extremes of attachment, which is the side of the antidote. Then the Bhagavan addressed the venerable Subhuti, saying: "Subhuti, it is good, good that you have briefly shown these extremes of attachment to the Bodhisattva Mahasattvas. Therefore, Subhuti, I have shown the subtle extremes of attachment in detail. Listen very well and keep it in mind, and I will show it." The venerable Subhuti replied to the Bhagavan, "So be it, Bhagavan." Then the venerable Subhuti listened to the Bhagavan. The Bhagavan said this: "Subhuti, thus, a son of good family or a daughter of good family who has truly entered into the unsurpassed perfect complete enlightenment, if they focus on the Tathagata with signs, Subhuti, as much as it becomes signs, that much is attachment. Also, whatever good roots those Tathagatas have from the first generation of thought until the manifestation of perfect complete enlightenment, until the attainment of Buddhahood, until the attainment of Nirvana without remainder, and until the abiding of the sacred Dharma, if they all focus on signs and, having focused on them, dedicate them to the unsurpassed perfect complete enlightenment, Subhuti, as much as they focus on signs, that much is attachment. Also, all the attachments of those Tathagatas

Those roots of virtue that are separate from me and separate from all attachments, and whatever roots of virtue of other sentient beings that are not so, all of those, holding them in mind as signs, and having held them in mind, dedicating them completely to the unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment. Mañjuśrī, to the extent that one holds to signs in the mind, to that extent there is attachment. Why is that? Mañjuśrī, the Tathāgata cannot be held in mind as a sign. Those or other roots of virtue also cannot be held in mind as a sign, that is called subtle attachment. Then, the venerable Mañjuśrī said this to the Blessed One: Blessed One, the Perfection of Wisdom is profound! The Blessed One said: Mañjuśrī, all phenomena are empty of inherent existence. Mañjuśrī asked: Blessed One, I pay homage to the Perfection of Wisdom! The Blessed One said: Mañjuśrī, do not do it like this, do not make it manifest, because no one can become manifestly enlightened in that way, that is the very profound Dharma. Mañjuśrī asked: Blessed One, it is difficult to become perfectly enlightened in all phenomena. The Blessed One said: Mañjuśrī, it is like this, the nature of Dharma is not two, Mañjuśrī, the nature of Dharma is only one. Whatever is the nature of Dharma is not nature. Whatever is not nature is unconditioned. Mañjuśrī, in that way, if a Bodhisattva Mahāsattva knows and sees that the nature of Dharma is one, not nature, unconditioned, then that is completely abandoning all extremes of attachment, that is abandoning all attachments. Mañjuśrī asked: Blessed One, the Perfection of Wisdom is difficult to realize. The Blessed One said: Mañjuśrī, it is like this, the Perfection of Wisdom is not seen, not heard, not thus distinguished, manifestly enlightened by anyone, that is difficult to realize. Mañjuśrī asked: Blessed One, the Perfection of Wisdom is inconceivable. The Blessed One

Then spoke Das: Subhuti, thus it is that the perfection of wisdom is not fully understood by anyone, that is, it is not understood by form, feeling, perception, formations, and consciousness. It is not understood by the separate and aggregate skandhas, dhatus, ayatanas, and dependent origination. It is not understood by the limbs of dependent origination, the perfections, the dharmas that are conducive to enlightenment, the immeasurables, the dhyanas, and the formless attainments. It is not understood by the eight liberations, the nine successive abidings, emptiness, signlessness, wishlessness, and the superknowledges. It is not understood by all emptinesses, all samadhis, and all dharani gates. It is not understood by the ten powers of the Tathagata, the fearlessnesses, the distinct understandings, and the eighteen unshared dharmas of the Buddha. Subhuti asked: World-Honored One, the perfection of wisdom has no maker. The World-Honored One said: Subhuti, because all dharmas are unattainable, it is said that the perfection of wisdom has no maker, which is inconceivable. These are the aspects of unfavorable and favorable sides. Application: Subhuti asked: World-Honored One, how does a Bodhisattva Mahasattva practice the perfection of wisdom? The World-Honored One said: Subhuti, here, when a Bodhisattva Mahasattva practices the perfection of wisdom, if he does not practice in form, he practices the perfection of wisdom. If he does not practice in feeling, perception, formations, and consciousness, he practices the perfection of wisdom. Similarly, if he does not practice in the separate and aggregate skandhas, dhatus, ayatanas, and dependent origination, he practices the perfection of wisdom. Similarly, if he does not practice in all perfections, all emptinesses, all samadhis, and all dharanis
