When practicing, one does not think like this: regarding form, there is no concept of it being form. Similarly, regarding feeling, perception, formations, and regarding consciousness, there is no concept of it being consciousness. Regarding past dharmas, there is no concept of them being past dharmas. Regarding future dharmas, there is no concept of them being future dharmas. Regarding present dharmas, there is no concept of them being present dharmas. Shariputra, when Bodhisattva Mahasattvas skillfully practice the Perfection of Wisdom, they do not think like this: "I am giving a gift, I am giving a gift to this, the gift is like this"; or, "I am keeping the precepts, the precepts are like this keeping, I am keeping the precepts for these"; or, "I am practicing patience, patience is like this practice, I am practicing patience for these"; or, "I am exerting effort, effort is like this exertion, I am exerting effort for the sake of these"; or, "I am entering into samadhi, samadhi is like this entering, I am entering into samadhi like this"; or, "I am cultivating wisdom, wisdom is like this cultivation, I am cultivating wisdom for these"; or, "I am accumulating merit, merit is like this accumulation, I am accumulating this much merit"; or, "I will make the Bodhisattva's faults disappear without any omission"; or, "I will make the Buddha-field completely pure"; or, "I will make sentient beings completely mature"; or, "I will attain omniscience," they do not think like this. Venerable Shariputra, when Bodhisattva Mahasattvas skillfully practice the Perfection of Wisdom, all such discriminations do not arise. Why is that? Because of the emptiness of inner emptiness, the emptiness of outer emptiness, the emptiness of inner and outer emptiness, and the emptiness of the nature of non-things. Venerable Shariputra, those are Bo-

When a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva practices the Perfection of Wisdom with skillful means, what is called non-attachment is an antidote. Then, the lord of the gods, Indra, said this to the venerable Subhuti: "Venerable Subhuti, by what aspects do Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas become attached?" Subhuti said: "Kauśika, here, a Bodhisattva generates perception in the mind, generates perception in giving, similarly, generates perception in ethics, patience, diligence, meditation, and wisdom, generates perception in inner emptiness, generates perception in outer emptiness, generates perception in inner and outer emptiness, generates perception up to the emptiness of the nature of non-things, similarly, generates perception in the thirty-seven factors of enlightenment, the noble truths, the immeasurables, the meditations, the formless attainments, the samadhis, the doors of dharani, the ten powers of the Tathagata, the four fearlessnesses, the four analytical knowledges, the eighteen unshared qualities of the Buddha, generates perception in the Buddha, the Bhagavan, generates perception in the roots of virtue generated towards the Buddha, and completely gathers, combines, and measures those virtues, dedicating them to unsurpassed, perfect, complete enlightenment, this is the attachment of Kauśika, the Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas, and therefore they cannot practice the Perfection of Wisdom without attachment. Why is that? Kauśika, because they cannot completely dedicate the nature of form. Feeling, perception, formations, and the nature of consciousness, because they cannot completely dedicate. Similarly, the individual and combined aggregates, elements, sources, and the nature of dependent origination, because they cannot completely dedicate. Similarly, the perfections, the thirty-seven factors of enlightenment, the noble truths, the immeasurables,

The dhyanas and the formless attainments, emptiness, signlessness, wishlessness, the eight liberations, the nine successive abidings, the superknowledges, the samadhis, the gateways of dharani, all emptiness, the ten powers of the Tathagata, the fearlessnesses, the individual perfect knowledges, and the nature of the unmixed qualities of the Buddhas cannot be dedicated. Kausika, the nature of all-knowingness cannot be dedicated, therefore it is called the unfavorable side. Furthermore, Kausika, when a Bodhisattva Mahasattva wishes to correctly show, lead, praise, and delight others in the unsurpassed, perfect, complete enlightenment, he should correctly show, lead, praise, and delight others with a mind that follows reality. When a Bodhisattva Mahasattva practices the Perfection of Wisdom, I give charity, I keep the precepts, I cultivate patience, I exert diligence, I enter into meditation, I cultivate wisdom, I practice inner emptiness, I practice outer emptiness, I practice inner and outer emptiness, I practice between the emptiness of the nature of non-things, I cultivate the thirty-seven factors of enlightenment, I cultivate the noble truths, I enter into the immeasurables, the dhyanas, and the formless attainments, I cultivate emptiness, signlessness, and wishlessness, I cultivate the eight liberations, I enter into the nine successive abidings, I take the superknowledges, I enter into the samadhis, I am the gateway of dharani.
