Having placed it in a vessel of its own nature and cherished it, and having made offerings to it with flowers, incense, fragrances, garlands, unguents, powders, garments, umbrellas, victory banners, and many flags, up to the point of honoring it, whoever writes, respects, or places this Perfection of Wisdom in a book, and makes offerings to it, treats it as a guru, respects it, makes offerings to it, remembers it, and honors it, this itself will cause merit to increase even more. Why is that? Because it becomes an offering to the wisdom of omniscience, and the five perfections also arise from this. Inner emptiness, and even the emptiness of the nature of the non-existence of things, also arise from this. The mindfulnesses, the correct abandonments, the legs of magical power, the faculties, the powers, the branches of enlightenment, the path, the superknowledges, and the truths also arise from this. The immeasurables, the meditations, and the formless absorptions also arise from this. The ten powers of the Thus-Gone One, the four fearlessnesses, the individual correct knowledges, and the eighteen unshared qualities of a Buddha also arise from this. All concentrations and all gates of dharani also arise from this. The complete ripening of sentient beings also arises from this. The complete purification of the Buddha-fields also arises from this. The bodhisattva mahasattvas' complete lineage, complete enjoyment, and complete retinue also arise from this. Great love and great compassion also arise from this. The great sala tree of the royal caste, the great sala tree of the Brahmin caste, and the great sala tree of the householder caste also arise from this. The sons of the gods of the retinue of the Four Great Kings, the Thirty-three, the Free from Strife, the Joyful, the Those Delighting in Emanation, the Those Wielding Power over Others' Emanations, the Brahma Host, the Brahma Attendants, the Great Brahma, and the sons of the gods up to Akanishtha also arise from this.

Also from this arose the fruit of once-returner, the fruit of non-returner, the Arhat, and the solitary Buddhas. Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas also arose from this. The Tathagata, Arhat, perfectly complete Buddha also arose from this. The inconceivable, the unequal, the unsurpassed, the incomparable, the all-knowingness of the unequal and equal aspects also arose from this, which is the desire for one's own benefit, small to the smallest. Then again, the lord of the gods, Indra, said this to the Blessed One: Blessed One, what is the reason that the people of Jambudvipa do not make offerings to this Prajnaparamita with flowers, incense, scents, garlands, ointments, powders, clothes, umbrellas, banners, and flags, do not respect it, do not revere it, do not honor it, do not remember it, do not venerate it? Blessed One, do they not understand that the offering of Prajnaparamita is so meaningful? Do they not understand that the Prajnaparamita that is not offered has such great benefits? After asking this, the Blessed One said to the lord of the gods, Indra: Kauśika(梵文天城体,kauśika, कौशिका, 憍尸迦: Kauśika, 憍尸迦), what do you think? How many of these people in Jambudvipa have unwavering faith in the Buddha, unwavering faith in the Dharma, unwavering faith in the Sangha, no doubt about the Buddha, no doubt about the Dharma, no doubt about the Sangha, great reliance on the Buddha, great reliance on the Dharma, and great reliance on the Sangha? Then again, the lord of the gods, Indra, said this to the Blessed One: Blessed One, how many of these people in Jambudvipa have joyful and unwavering faith in the Buddha, unwavering faith in the Dharma, unwavering faith in the Sangha, no doubt about the Buddha, and about the Dharma?

Those who are without deceit on the earth, without deceit towards the Sangha, who have extreme reliance on the Buddha, extreme reliance on the Dharma, and extreme reliance on the Sangha, such beings are very few. The Bhagavan said: Kausika, it is so, it is so. Kausika, what do you think? Among the people of Jambudvipa, how many have attained the thirty-seven factors of enlightenment? Among the people of Jambudvipa, how many have attained the three doors of liberation? Among the people of Jambudvipa, how many have attained the eight liberations? Among the people of Jambudvipa, how many have attained the nine successive abidings in meditative absorption? Among the people of Jambudvipa, how many have attained the four specific knowledges? Among the people of Jambudvipa, how many have attained the six supernormal powers? Among the people of Jambudvipa, how many, having abandoned the three bonds, have become stream-enterers? Among the people of Jambudvipa, how many, having thinned out desire, hatred, and delusion, have become once-returners? Among the people of Jambudvipa, how many, having abandoned the five lower fetters, have become non-returners? Among the people of Jambudvipa, how many, having abandoned the five higher fetters, have become Arhats? Among the people of Jambudvipa, how many have entered into self-enlightenment? Among the people of Jambudvipa, how many have entered into unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment? Indra entreated: Bhagavan, among the people of Jambudvipa, those who have attained the thirty-seven factors of enlightenment are few, those who have attained the three doors of liberation are even fewer, those who have attained the eight liberations are even fewer, those who have attained the nine successive abidings in meditative absorption are even fewer, those who have attained the four specific knowledges,
