And meditating on these, they also focus on these mindfulnesses. By way of focusing, they also become arrogant with these mindfulnesses. Similarly, they meditate on the right abandonments, the miraculous feet, the faculties, the powers, the limbs of enlightenment, the path, the meditations, the immeasurables, the formless absorptions, the superknowledges, the ten powers of the Tathagata, the four fearlessnesses, the four individual perfect knowledges, and the eighteen unmixed qualities of the Buddhas, and they also focus on these qualities of the Buddhas. By way of focusing, they also become arrogant with these qualities of the Buddhas. Subhuti, when a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva practices the Perfection of Wisdom, because they are unskilled in means, upon hearing this teaching of the Perfection of Wisdom, they become alarmed and universally frightened, and they become seized by fear. Subhuti asked, "Bhagavan, how does a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva become seized by evil friends such that upon hearing the teaching of the Perfection of Wisdom, they become alarmed and universally frightened, and they become seized by fear?" The Bhagavan said, "Subhuti, here, the evil friend of a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva is one who causes them to be separated from the Perfection of Wisdom, the Perfection of Meditation, the Perfection of Diligence, the Perfection of Patience, the Perfection of Ethics, and the Perfection of Generosity. They say, 'This was not spoken by the Tathagata. This is not Dharma. This is not Discipline. There is nothing to be learned here. These Sutras are self-made. They should not be listened to. They should not be taken up. They should not be held. They should not be read. They should not be fully understood. They should not be properly attended to. These should not be shown to others.' This, Subhuti, should be known as the evil friend of a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva. Furthermore, Subhuti, a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva
