Having gone to the Bodhisattva Mahasattva, (saying) what do you do by becoming fully enlightened in unsurpassed and perfect enlightenment? For that purpose, wander in samsara for immeasurable and countless eons, and be afflicted by the immeasurable cutting off of hands, feet, and heads. Strive for those who have realized the fruit of entering the stream, realized the fruit of once returning, realized the fruit of non-returning, and realized the fruit of Arhatship. Such demonic deeds of not speaking and not showing are to be known as evil friends of the Bodhisattva Mahasattva. Furthermore, Rabjor, evil demons, having taken on the appearance of monks, having gone to the Bodhisattva Mahasattva, teach in a way that focuses on form being impermanent, and that form is suffering, selfless, peaceful, solitary, empty, signless, and without aspiration.

Those who say that the miraculous feet, the faculties, the powers, the limbs of enlightenment, and the eight limbs of the noble path are impermanent; those who say that among the unshared qualities of the Buddhas, impermanence, suffering, selflessness, peace, solitude, emptiness, signlessness, and wishlessness are the objects of focus; those who do not speak or show such deeds of demons should be recognized as evil companions of Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas. Thus, one should recognize them as evil companions of Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas, and having recognized them, one should completely abandon them. This is the second complete embrace, completely embraced by a virtuous friend. These have shown the four limbs of definitive discernment. Then, the venerable Subhuti said to the Blessed One, "Blessed One, what is the meaning of the term 'Bodhisattva, Bodhisattva'?" When he had asked this, the Blessed One said to the venerable Subhuti, "Subhuti, the meaning of the term 'Bodhisattva' is the meaning of no term. Why is that? Because enlightenment is neither born, nor existent, nor nonexistent, nor is it an object of focus. Therefore, Subhuti, the term 'Bodhisattva' has no meaning." This is the nature of the lineage itself. Second complete embrace. Completely embraced by a virtuous friend.
