Turning away and advising to practice the mental activities associated with Śrāvakas and Pratyekabuddhas, and teaching and instructing in such a way, but not declaring or indicating these demonic deeds, it should be known that this is a sinful companion of a Bodhisattva-Mahāsattva. Furthermore, Subhūti, evil demons will transform into the appearance of preceptors and teachers, and come to the presence of a Bodhisattva-Mahāsattva, turning them away from the conduct of a Bodhisattva, turning them away from the mental activities associated with all-knowingness, and advising them to engage in the four mindfulnesses, the four perfect abandonments, the four legs of miraculous power, the faculties, the powers, the limbs of enlightenment, and the eightfold noble path, as well as the dharmas such as emptiness, signlessness, and wishlessness. They will say, 'Noble son, you should cultivate these dharmas and manifest the Śrāvaka ground. What use is unsurpassed perfect enlightenment to you?' Teaching and instructing in such a way, but not declaring or indicating these demonic deeds, it should be known that this is a sinful companion of a Bodhisattva-Mahāsattva. Furthermore, Subhūti, evil demons will transform into the appearance of fathers and mothers, and come to the presence of a Bodhisattva-Mahāsattva, saying, 'What use is it for you to attain unsurpassed perfect enlightenment? For that, you will wander in saṃsāra for immeasurable countless eons, and suffer the torment of having your hands, feet, and head cut off countless times. You should strive to manifest the fruit of stream-enterer, the fruit of once-returner, the fruit of non-returner, and the fruit of Arhat.' Eye contact, tongue contact, body contact, and mind contact are taught as impermanent, as suffering, as selfless, as peaceful, as solitary, as empty, as signless, and as wishless, in such a way as to demonstrate; and the feeling arising from eye contact is taught as impermanent, as suffering, as selfless, as peaceful, as solitary, as empty, as signless, and as wishless, in such a way as to demonstrate; and the feeling arising from ear contact, and the feeling arising from nose contact, and the feeling arising from tongue contact, and the feeling arising from body contact, and the feeling arising from mind contact are taught as impermanent, as suffering, as selfless, as peaceful, as solitary, as empty, as signless, and as wishless, in such a way as to demonstrate; and between the mindfulnesses, it is taught as impermanent, as suffering, as selfless, as peaceful, as solitary, as empty, as signless, and as wishless, in such a way as to demonstrate; similarly, the right abandonments, the legs of magical power, the faculties, the powers, the limbs of enlightenment, and the eightfold noble path are taught as impermanent; and among the unmixed qualities of the Buddhas, it is taught as impermanent, as suffering, as selfless, as peaceful, as solitary, as empty, as signless, and as wishless, in such a way as to demonstrate, such deeds of the devil who does not speak or show, should be recognized as the evil companion of the Bodhisattva Mahasattva. Thus, it should be recognized as the evil companion of the Bodhisattva Mahasattva, and having known it in this way, it should be completely abandoned, this is the second kind of embrace, embraced by the virtuous friend.
