Similarly, because there is no dwelling among the dharmas of the Buddhas, and especially no attachment, no omniscience, therefore it is not applied to form, nor to feeling, perception, formation, and consciousness. It is not applied to the characteristic of form, nor to the characteristic of feeling, perception, formation, and consciousness. It is not applied to whether form is permanent or impermanent, nor to whether feeling, perception, formation, and consciousness are permanent or impermanent. It is not applied to whether form is happiness or suffering, whether there is self or no self, whether it is peaceful or not peaceful, and so on for feeling, perception, and formation. It is not applied to whether consciousness is happiness or suffering, whether there is self or no self, whether it is peaceful or not peaceful. It is not applied to whether form is empty or not empty, whether there is a sign or no sign, whether there is aspiration or no aspiration, and so on for feeling, perception, and formation. It is not applied to whether consciousness is empty or not empty, whether there is a sign or no sign, whether there is aspiration or no aspiration, whether it is solitary or not solitary. At that time, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva should know skillful means. Why is that? O venerable Shariputra,

and the formless absorptions, and the ten powers of the Tathagata, and the four fearlessnesses, and the four analytical knowledges, and the emptiness between the eighteen unshared qualities of the Buddha, that is also not the dharmas of the Buddhas. Apart from emptiness, there are no dharmas of the Buddhas. Apart from the dharmas of the Buddhas, there is no emptiness, emptiness itself is the unshared dharmas of the Buddhas. The unshared dharmas of the Buddhas are emptiness. Venerable Shariputra, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva who thus practices the Perfection of Wisdom should be known as skillful means. Eleventh fascicle. Venerable Shariputra, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva who thus practices the Perfection of Wisdom has the potential to fully awaken to unsurpassed perfect and complete enlightenment. When he practices the Perfection of Wisdom, if he understands some dharmas, he does not practice the Perfection of Wisdom. If he does not understand, he does not practice the Perfection of Wisdom. If he is neither understanding nor not understanding, he does not practice the Perfection of Wisdom. If he is neither understanding nor not understanding, he does not practice the Perfection of Wisdom. Shariputra said: Venerable Subhuti, for what reason, when a Bodhisattva Mahasattva practices the Perfection of Wisdom, if he understands something, he does not practice the Perfection of Wisdom? If he does not understand, he does not practice the Perfection of Wisdom? If he is neither understanding nor not understanding, he does not practice the Perfection of Wisdom? If he is neither understanding nor not understanding, he does not practice the Perfection of Wisdom? Subhuti said: Venerable Shariputra, it is because the Perfection of Wisdom does not observe self-nature. Why is that? It is because the Perfection of Wisdom is the self-nature of non-things.

Therefore, when a Bodhisattva Mahasattva practices the Prajnaparamita, he does not closely perceive that he is practicing, nor does he closely perceive that he is not practicing, nor does he closely perceive that he is both practicing and not practicing, nor does he closely perceive that he is neither practicing nor not practicing. Why is that? Because he has comprehended and not abandoned the nature of all dharmas as being without substance. Shariputra, if a Bodhisattva Mahasattva practices the Prajnaparamita in this way, his mind will not be discouraged, nor will it be completely discouraged, he will not be afraid, nor will he be completely frightened, nor will he be overcome by fear. Then, that Bodhisattva Mahasattva can be regarded as being close to the All-Knowingness. This is the difference between the object and the aspect of great forbearance. The difference between the object and the aspect of the great supreme Dharma. Shariputra, All-Knowingness itself is also without duality and indivisible because of its nature of being without substance. This is the samadhi of the Bodhisattva Mahasattvas, called the non-arising of all dharmas. It is vast, leading, determined to be immeasurable, and not stolen by the Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas. Shariputra, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva who practices through this samadhi will quickly awaken to unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. Shariputra said: Venerable Subhuti, what kind of samadhi is it that the Bodhisattva Mahasattva abides in, which will quickly awaken to unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment? Subhuti said: Shariputra, abiding in the samadhi called Heroic Progress, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva will quickly awaken to unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. Similarly, there is a samadhi called Jewel Seal.
