And what is the nature of the formations? What is the nature of consciousness? What is the nature of each of the sense bases, elements, and dependent origination, and what is the nature of their combination? What is the nature of the interval of the true limit? Subhuti said: O Sariputra, endowed with life, the nature of form is insubstantial. The nature of feeling is insubstantial. The nature of perception is insubstantial. The nature of formations is insubstantial. The nature of consciousness is insubstantial. The nature of each of the sense bases, elements, and dependent origination, and the nature of their combination, is insubstantial. The nature of the interval of the true limit is insubstantial. O Sariputra, endowed with life, in those terms, you should understand that form is separate from the nature of form, feeling is separate from the nature of feeling, perception is separate from the nature of perception, formations are separate from the nature of formations, consciousness is separate from the nature of consciousness, the sense bases are separate from the nature of the sense bases, the elements are separate from the nature of the elements, dependent origination is separate from the nature of dependent origination, and the interval of the true limit is separate from the nature of the true limit. O Sariputra, endowed with life, furthermore, form is separate from the characteristic of form. Feeling is separate from the characteristic of feeling. Perception is separate from the characteristic of perception. Formations are separate from the characteristic of formations. Consciousness is separate from the characteristic of consciousness. The sense bases are separate from the characteristic of the sense bases. The elements are separate from the characteristic of the elements. The interval of dependent origination is separate from the characteristic of dependent origination. The interval of the true limit is separate from the characteristic of the true limit. O Sariputra, endowed with life, the characteristic is also separate from the essence of the characteristic. The essence is also separate from the characteristic of the essence.

What kind of Bodhisattva-Mahasattva, by studying this teaching, will attain all-knowingness? Subhuti said: Venerable Shariputra, it is indeed so. Whatever Bodhisattva-Mahasattva studies this teaching, he will attain all-knowingness. This is the distinction between the object and the aspect of small patience. Why is that? Venerable Shariputra, it is because all dharmas are unborn and not definitely produced. He said: Venerable Subhuti, by what cause are all dharmas unborn and not definitely produced? Subhuti said: Venerable Shariputra, form is empty of the nature of form, therefore, for form, birth or definite production is also not seen. Venerable Shariputra, feeling is empty of the nature of feeling, therefore, for feeling, birth or definite production is also not seen. Venerable Shariputra, perception is empty of the nature of perception, therefore, for perception, birth or definite production is also not seen. Venerable Shariputra, formations are empty of the nature of formations, therefore, for formations, birth or definite production is also not seen. Venerable Shariputra, consciousness is empty of the nature of consciousness, therefore, for consciousness, birth or definite production is also not seen. Similarly, up to the aggregates, elements, sources, dependent origination, and the limit of reality, they are also empty of the nature of the limit of reality, therefore, for them, birth or definite production is also not seen. Venerable Shariputra, a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva who thus practices the Perfection of Wisdom is close to all-knowingness. The more he approaches all-knowingness, the more he will attain complete purity of body, complete purity of speech, complete purity of mind, and complete purity of name. The more he attains complete purity of body, complete purity of speech, complete purity of mind, and complete purity of name, the more the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva is endowed with desire.
