Because he has greatly cultivated the path of meditation and has completely abandoned attachment to form, attachment to the formless, ignorance, pride, and agitation, this person is called an Arhat. This person abides in the signless, and the five faculties of this person will arise through the door of liberation, the signless. The five faculties will touch the immediately following samadhi. Through the immediately following samadhi, the vision of liberating wisdom will arise, hence this person is called an Arhat. This person abides in the wishless, and the five faculties of this person will arise through the door of liberation, the wishless. The five faculties will attain the immediately following samadhi. Through the immediately following samadhi, the vision of liberating wisdom will arise. Shariputra, this is the completely pure Dharma eye of the Bodhisattva Mahasattva. Shariputra, furthermore, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva should know thus: whatever arises as a slight Dharma, all of that is of the nature of cessation. When he knows thus and practices the Prajnaparamita, he will obtain the five faculties. Shariputra, this is the completely pure Dharma eye of the Bodhisattva Mahasattva. Shariputra, furthermore, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva should know thus: whatever Bodhisattva practices the Paramita of Giving and the Paramita of Discipline, this is the generation of the first thought, and through that path he obtains the faculty of faith and the faculty of diligence, and being endowed with skillful means, he will deliberately and completely control his own body. This Bodhisattva is of stable roots of virtue, and he will be born into a royal family, like a great Sala tree.

This one will be born into the Brahmin caste, among those like great Sala trees. This one will be born into the householder caste, among those like great Sala trees. This one will be born among the gods of the Four Great Kings. This one will be born among the gods of the Thirty-three. This one will be born among the gods of No Strife. This one will be born among the gods of Tushita. This one will be born among the gods of Delightful Transformation. This one will be born among the gods of Control Over Others' Emanations. This one will be born up to Akanishta. Having remained there, he will fully ripen sentient beings. With all the implements of happiness, he will make offerings to them. He will also completely purify the Buddha-fields. He will please the Tathagatas, Arhats, Perfectly Awakened Buddhas. He will show respect. He will show reverence. He will show homage. He will make offerings. He will not fall into the level of Hearers or Solitary Buddhas. This Bodhisattva Mahasattva knows well that he will not turn back until he manifestly awakens to unsurpassed, perfect, and complete awakening. Shariputra, this is the completely pure Dharma-eye of the Bodhisattva Mahasattva. Furthermore, Shariputra, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva knows thus: These Bodhisattva Mahasattvas are those who have been prophesied to attain unsurpassed, perfect, and complete awakening. These Bodhisattvas are those who have not been prophesied. These Bodhisattvas are those who will not turn back. These Bodhisattvas are those who will turn back. These Bodhisattvas are those who have fully perfected clairvoyance. These Bodhisattvas are those who have not fully perfected clairvoyance. These Bodhisattva Mahasattvas, having fully perfected clairvoyance, having gone to worlds as numerous as the sands of the Ganges River from the eastern direction up to the upper direction, show respect to the Tathagatas, Arhats, Perfectly Awakened Buddhas.

He acts as a teacher, he acts as forgetfulness, he acts as offering. This Bodhisattva, because his supernormal knowledge is not fully perfected, does not perform the intermediate acts of offering. He will attain supernormal knowledge. He will not attain supernormal knowledge. The Buddha-field of this Bodhisattva Mahasattva will become completely pure. The Buddha-field of this Bodhisattva Mahasattva will not become completely pure. This Bodhisattva has completely ripened sentient beings. This Bodhisattva has not completely ripened sentient beings. The Buddhas, the Bhagavat, praise this Bodhisattva Mahasattva. They do not praise this Bodhisattva Mahasattva. These Bodhisattva Mahasattvas will abide closely with the Buddhas, the Bhagavat. These Bodhisattvas will not abide closely. This Bodhisattva Mahasattva, having attained unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment, will have immeasurable life.
