If it has been completely transcended, these are not like that. Among them, transcending the characteristic of form is the first. Transcending space is the second. Transcending consciousness entering space is the third. Transcending the nothingness of consciousness entering space is the fourth. Thus, all of these are obtained through transcending this object of focus, not through transcending the limbs. Because all of these depend on equanimity and one-pointedness of mind, these are their second limbs. Just as taking water from coarse, subtle, extremely subtle, and exceedingly subtle threads, and four pieces of cloth of equal width, even if there is no difference in size, but due to the lack of comfortable touch and size, the former is more excellent than the latter, and the latter is more excellent than the latter. Similarly, even if these have no difference, but due to the difference in practice, and approaching the nature of subtlety and peace, it should be known that the former is more excellent than the latter, and is extremely excellent. The remainder of liberation is, as previously stated, the complete realization of all aspects. The nine successive abidings of meditative absorption refer to the four dhyanas, the formless absorptions, and the cessation absorption. The ten kasinas are: earth, water, fire, wind, blue, yellow, red, and white, these eight kasinas, as well as the kasina of consciousness and the kasina of space. Among them, the kasina of earth refers to the yogi who, through practice, has mastered dhyana and samadhi, transcended slight obscurations, and through meditative absorption, due to coarse conceptual thoughts, sees the fault called "weakening of limbs." In order to realize the peaceful nature of the second dhyana, first completely abandoning the desire for the first dhyana, when separately examining the limbs of dhyana, even the coarseness of mere conceptual thoughts, such as the practice of the path, abides in peace. At that time, in order to abandon the coarse limbs, and repeatedly

By directing the mind, one establishes cessation in the earth. Likewise, for the nine cessations such as water, one should observe in the same manner. For those who have previously cultivated familiarity, cessation of water arises from rivers, ponds, lakes, and so on, even without deliberate effort. Similarly, cessation of fire arises from the tips of smoke from burning forests, and so on. This wind abides in light spots moved by the wind, and in the leaves of trees, and so on, and it utterly destroys them; from this, cessation of wind arises. From spreading out blue flowers, jewels, clothes, and so on, cessation of blue arises. Likewise, from yellow, red, and white, cessation of yellow and so on arises. From the surface of paint, silver, the circle of the moon, and so on, cessation of white arises. From observing the moonbeams entering through a window, the place of sunlight, the collection of light arising from the direction of a wall, the light arising from the gaps in the collection of tree leaves, and the moonbeams moved by the wind, cessation of consciousness arises. From holes in windows, holes in walls, holes, and so on, cessation of space arises. For beginners who have not cultivated meditation, such yoga does not arise, therefore one should know the distinction of fully cultivating it. One should fill any vessel, such as a basin dripping from a clean cloth, with water, placing it in a very good place, and sit comfortably, beginning to direct the mind; this is the complete cultivation of cessation of water. Furthermore, one should cut pieces of wood containing essence, and burn them under a tree or on an unparalleled platform, in the manner of an oiled bowl, creating a hole one finger-width or four fingers-width high. Sitting comfortably in front of a mat made of leather or any grass, one should direct the mind towards the pottery and wood below, with smoke tips above, and in the center, one should grasp the sign of a dense mass of burning fire; this is the complete cultivation of cessation of fire. One should pierce a hole in the wall, or even without a hole, hollow out the inside of a window, sit nearby, and in the direction of the limbs,
