From here onwards, the practice of accumulation will be explained. This consists of sixteen aspects differentiated by great compassion and so forth, namely: the six, such as love and generosity; and also calm abiding and insight; as well as the path of union; and whatever skillful means there are; and also wisdom and merit; and whatever the ten paths and grounds are; it should be known that this is the order of the practice of the accumulation of antidotes. Thus it is said. Among these, the sixteen practices of accumulation are as follows: the accumulation of great compassion; the accumulation of generosity; the accumulation of ethics; the accumulation of patience; the accumulation of diligence; the accumulation of meditation; the accumulation of wisdom; the accumulation of calm abiding; the accumulation of insight; the accumulation of the path of union; the accumulation of skillful means; the accumulation of wisdom; the accumulation of merit; the accumulation of the path; the accumulation of the grounds; and what is called the accumulation of antidotes. Among these, the accumulation of great compassion is that, through revealing the reason why the term "putting on great armor" is applied, in terms of the practice of accumulation, in each of the ten directions, beings as numerous as the sands of the Ganges River, namely, beings in hell, the realm of animals, and the realm of Yama, illuminating them with the light of one's own body, and hearing the prostrations to the Buddhas and so forth in order to pacify those sufferings. Through that virtue, liberating them from those bad destinies, and until enlightenment, truly holding the lineage that pleases and accords with the Buddhas, acting with compassion that is free from suffering, thus it is declared. The accumulation of generosity is that, through the accumulation of generosity, for so many beings, giving those foods and so forth to those who desire those foods and so forth, and teaching the Dharma, thereby until enlightenment, one will never be separated from the six perfections, thus it is declared. The accumulation of ethics is that, for so many beings, teaching the path of the ten virtuous actions, and the Dharma from meditation and so forth up to the unique Dharma of the Buddha, until enlightenment, thus it is declared, this is the arrangement.

The collection of patience is that no matter how many sentient beings strike me with sticks, clods, and fists, I will not generate even a trace of anger towards them. This shows that one's own patience should make others very happy. The collection of diligence is that as many sentient beings as there are, they should diligently engage in physical and mental diligence with the intention of possessing all-knowing wisdom. This shows that the meaning of the words is to place, correctly combine, abide, and not separate. The collection of meditation is that as many sentient beings as there are, they themselves abide in the equality of the nature of all dharmas, and for any dharma, whether it is delusion or non-delusion, they do not see it as if they have not seen it, and until enlightenment, they correctly encourage and abide in it. The collection of wisdom is that, just like this, for any dharma, neither observing this shore nor observing the other shore, similarly, they also correctly encourage and abide in them. Among them, this shore is samsara, because children only experience it temporarily. The other shore is nirvana, because those who focus on their own benefit, through the combination of diligence, feel joy in their hearts on the other shore. This shows that the collection of tranquility is that, just as oneself abides in the six perfections, as many sentient beings as there are abiding, all of them also abide in the six perfections and the dharmas that are conducive to enlightenment, and from the fruit of stream-entry up to the fruit of non-return, with the sentient being realm of beings without end as the object, they are correctly encouraged and abide, accumulating with the perfection of generosity in this very life, accumulating with the perfection of discipline in the happiness of the next life, accumulating with the perfection of patience, diligence, and meditation in the sole happiness, because patience, joy, and focus can obtain the fruit that is accompanied by sole happiness. With the perfection of wisdom, one can approach very excellent happiness.
