It is the source of becoming..., it is not another source of becoming, therefore it is the source of being neither existent nor non-existent. In all of these, only complete transcendence from the object of focus is attained, not transcendence from the limbs. For example, the first dhyana and so on, with respect to objects of focus such as earth, without abandoning the focus on a single object of focus, complete transcendence is obtained from the limbs such as investigation, but these are not like that. For these, the first is due to transcending the characteristic of form. The second is due to transcending space. The third is due to transcending the consciousness that enters space. The fourth is due to transcending the nothingness of the consciousness that enters space. Therefore, in all of these, only complete transcendence from the object of focus is attained. It is not complete transcendence from the limbs. Due to the power of equanimity and one-pointedness of mind, all of these possess two limbs. Just as the four pieces of cloth of equal width woven from coarse, fine, extremely fine, and very fine threads, although there is no difference in size, the latter becomes more and more extremely rich compared to the former due to the comfortable touch, thin nature, and high value. Similarly, although these do not have differences in limbs, since they have become the nature of subtlety and peace, it should be understood that the latter compared to the former have the qualities of increase, extreme richness, and utmost richness. The remaining explanation of liberation, as it is said, is the complete realization of all aspects. The nine meditative stabilizations of gradual abiding are the four dhyanas, the four formless absorptions, and the cessation absorption. The ten kasinas are: earth, water, fire, wind, blue, yellow, red, white, these eight kasinas, as well as kasina consciousness and kasina space. Among them, kasina earth refers to the yogi who, having arisen from the first dhyana samadhi, which has become mastered through habituation, thinks that this meditative stabilization is the antidote to the obstacles of close abiding, and because it is a coarse investigation, the power of the limbs is also small, and thus arises disgust.

After seeing. In the second dhyana, one contemplates tranquility. Without completely clinging to the first dhyana, in order to attain the second dhyana, one considers the aspects of the first dhyana, such as vitarka, to be coarse, and dwells near tranquility, such as vicara. This is not to use this as a cause to abandon the coarse aspects and attain the tranquil aspects, but to repeatedly contemplate "earth," which is to establish cessation on earth. Similarly, for the nine, such as cessation of water, one should also observe in this way. For those who have previously cultivated meditation, merely contemplating the cessation of water in rivers, ponds, puddles, etc., will cause the cessation of water to arise. Similarly, in forest fires and billowing smoke, it is the cessation of fire. For the light moved by the wind and the leaves of vines, etc., universally observing that this wind is the excellent object of activity in this place is wind. In places where blue flowers, jewels, clothes, etc., are laid out, it is the cessation of blue. When those become yellow, red, and white, it is the cessation of yellow, etc. For pigments, i.e., earth, wind, the moon disc, etc., it is the cessation of white. In the moonlight and sunlight entering through windows, etc., and the circles of light produced on the walls and the ground, and those that appear only from within the clusters of leaves, which arise in the four directions, observing the spots of moonlight and sunlight is the cessation of consciousness. In windows and holes in walls, etc., the cessation of space will arise. If one has not previously cultivated familiarity, then a beginner will not generate it in this way, so one should know the difference of complete cultivation. Therefore, filling any container such as a begging bowl and utensils with pure water without differences in colors such as blue, water that falls from the sky or drips from a completely clean water filter, and dwelling comfortably in a suitable place, one should begin to contemplate, this is the complete cultivation of the cessation of water.
