By generating the knowledge of correctly perceiving things like sounds and images, thereby understanding the meaning of the perfect means for the benefit of others; and by completely mastering the forms of the path, thereby understanding the minds of all sentient beings, thereby understanding the meaning of the actions of others' attachments; and from understanding the paths and fruits of the hells and other evil destinies, thereby reversing their causes and effects, to understanding the paths and fruits of the gods of the realm of neither perception nor non-perception; and to know the aspects of enlightenment and so on up to great compassion; and to establish sentient beings in the path and fruit as they are; why is this so? Because this is the reason for the extreme discrimination of the faculties of individuals. Extreme discrimination means to know well by discriminating the lineages. Mentioning individuals also includes women, individuals include women, this is the rule of words. These faculties also refer to faith and so on. Being in accordance with this and enlightenment and its aspects of the Dharma, and also not in accordance with it, without form, invisible, unimpeded, without characteristics, with the characteristic of no characteristic as one characteristic, then what is the Dharma that accomplishes enlightenment? Whatever is said to be the meaning of sentient beings who do not understand in that way is what is to be shown. The inverted perception of dissimilar things and antidotes is: Subhuti, furthermore, starting from what is form and so on, up to the Dharma between all-knowingness, all of these are in accordance with the noble Dharma Vinaya and also not in accordance with it, no, in order to guide sentient beings, these are established in worldly terms, and the Shravakas and so on, and all-knowingness and so on, are realized through knowledge and seeing, being in accordance with desire and also not in accordance with it, and so on, subduing afflictions is the noble Dharma Vinaya, and being in accordance with the four dhyanas and also not in accordance with it.

Starting from the matter called "non-", all the dharmas of realization are neither possessed nor not possessed. What is the reason for that? Because all those dharmas are formless, unteachable, without beginning, without characteristics, with non-characteristic as their single characteristic. For example, although it is non-characteristic, formlessness and unteachableness, etc., together with formlessness and unteachableness, etc., are neither possessed nor not possessed. This is what is said by such reasoning. To wrongly conceive of characteristics is: here, for the Prajnaparamita which has non-characteristic as its single characteristic, being formless, unteachable, without beginning, without characteristics, those who train know that the characteristics of all dharmas are not found, and if one trains in the non-characteristic of all dharmas, then there will be no way to transcend the grounds of the Hearers, etc., and all dharmas are non-characteristic, formless, without indication, unteachable, without beginning, with non-characteristic as their single characteristic itself, without training in characteristics. What is the reason for that? If something that existed before becomes non-characteristic later, this is the reasoning by which the training in characteristics and non-characteristics is prevented. What is the reason for that? Whether the Tathagatas appear or the Tathagatas do not appear, this sphere of non-characteristic is naturally so, this is what is said by such reasoning. If habituation, etc., is of one characteristic, then meditating on it would not be reasonable as meditating on the Prajnaparamita, therefore it is impossible to transcend the grounds of the Hearers, etc., and there is no gateway for the Bodhisattva to enter without fault, and by preventing the one characteristic and different characteristics when meditating on it, it is then allowed to meditate on the non-characteristic itself. If asked, "How does one meditate?", the answer is: not meditating on the form aggregate, etc., is meditating on the Prajnaparamita itself. Similarly, feeling, etc., eye, etc., form, etc., eye consciousness, etc., and the contact that arises from their gathering, etc., and the feeling that arises from their cause, etc., the six elements such as earth, etc., and dependent origination.
