I attain purity, and the emanation of evil demons causes sentient beings to fall into the eight great hells, experiencing intense suffering without interruption, being controlled by it. For the great Bodhisattva who has been prophesied to be in the irreversible stage, even if he is greatly influenced by immeasurable teachings, he can unswervingly save all beings and not retreat from the unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment. This itself is the stage belonging to the pinnacle. Furthermore, evil demons come before the great Bodhisattva as a means of taming, starting from "Thus it is said," even if led astray, like an Arhat Bhikshu, he will not be swayed by other conditions. Why is that? Because with pure wisdom, he does not truly see any Dharma that guides beings. With such reasoning, furthermore, the demon, in a worldly form, regards bones as impure, etc. When showing illusions of the path, recognizing "This is a demon," and thus not abandoning all sentient beings, this belongs to the stage of forbearance. Not being separated from the contemplation of Prajnaparamita is the conduct truly proclaimed by the Tathagata, abiding in accordance with it, and from the Paramita of Giving, etc., up to the Omniscience, with an unwavering intention, this is called the supreme stage of Dharma. The meaning of the Sutra is widely proclaimed in prose, and the verses therein are of six kinds: Change of form, etc., Doubt, tireless exhaustion, Abiding in self-purity, Others placed in that, Others rely on giving, etc., Deep meaning also without doubt. Loving body, etc., and obscurations, Five kinds not in harmony, All habitual tendencies destroyed, Mindfulness and awareness, Clothes, etc., all pure, No worms arise in the body. Mind subdued without deceit, Without taking, without mixing, resting, Possessing Dharma nature, acting, Seeking hell for the sake of beings, Not being seduced by others, Showing the demon the near path. Knowing him as a demon, The conduct pleasing to the Buddha, The signs are twenty.

Those, with warmth and peak endurance, etc., abiding in the supreme Dharma, do not regress from perfect Bodhi. For the sake of the stage conforming to the definitive Dharma, the characteristics of a Bodhisattva who does not regress have been explained. Now, the stage of the path of seeing is to be discussed. And why is that? The endurance of the path of seeing, and the sixteen moments of knowledge, are the characteristics of a Bodhisattva who does not regress, it should be known. Thus it is said. What are the sixteen? They are as follows: The endurance of the knowledge of Dharma in suffering is the very nature of non-regression because of turning back from the consciousness of form, etc. And why is that? That is because the great Bodhisattva who does not regress enters without the faults of a Bodhisattva, since all Dharmas are empty of their own nature. He does not perceive that Dharma, therefore he does not manifest activity, therefore he is not born. That is the great Bodhisattva who does not regress, who has endurance for non-birth. Thus, the turning back from consciousness and manifest activity is what is spoken of with the reason that it is the characteristic of non-regression. Also, in the knowledge of Dharma in suffering, the Mara comes near, obstructing faith, and saying that omniscience is equal to space, the nature of non-things, that is, emptiness of its own nature, and from that beginning, because the knower, the known, and the act of knowing are not perceived, he obstructs the desire for the subsequent Dharma. Because he has penetrated it, it is said that with a mind that is firm, unshakeable, and un-robbed, with the practice of taking it up correctly, with the meaning of not declining from the task at hand. Among these, a firm mind is because the story of King Bimbisara is not told. Unshakeable is because of direct realization. Un-robbed is because it is not the object of others. The endurance of the subsequent knowledge of suffering is what is spoken of by the Bodhisattva who is firm, relying on both non-regression and regression, because of the turning back and non-regression from the purity of the Hearers and Solitary Buddhas and from omniscience. There, entering into the truth
