Like a rainbow, unreal and deceptive! Like enjoying pleasures in a dream. Thus, all compounded things are impermanent, Quickly strive in the sacred Dharma. Therefore, at the holy images and places of offering, With devoted faith, diligently engage in virtue, As an example of attaining unsurpassed Bodhi, Like King Clear Intellect. Therefore, strive in the activities of offering. Why? Because obtaining a human body is extremely rare. Having obtained a human body with leisure and endowment, If you do not accomplish the benefit of the future life in this one, How will you ever attain the heavenly realms later? When suffering arises from being born in the lower realms, What good are the power, wealth, happiness, and joy of this life? Remembering what was done in the past will be extremely painful. Therefore, do not be distracted by the ways of samsara, For the great anger that blazes like fire, Quickly extinguish it with the water of great compassion. Untie the tight knot of desire and miserliness, With the mind of unattached, great generosity. For the great darkness of ignorance that obscures, Raise the great lamp of clear wisdom. Having applied antidotes to all the afflictions, For the four great rivers of samsara, Board the boat of diligence and cross over. Just as existence today implies existence tomorrow, So too, existence in this life ensures existence in the next. The years, lifespan, and future events of tomorrow, No one can predict which will come first. Just as one strives in farming for the sake of tomorrow, So too, one should practice the sacred Dharma for the sake of the next life. It is not right to sit complacently, Thinking, "I will not die just today or tonight." This life does not stay, it flows like water down a steep cliff, Briefly impermanent, like dew on a blade of grass, Or like a bubble in water, arising and dying. Birth in samsara is like the turning of a chariot wheel. Therefore, do not be attached to your own body, If you benefit beings with the giving of refuge, As an example of attaining unsurpassed Bodhi, There is also the example of King Sibi. If you practice the human Dharma well, The path to the heavenly realms is not far. Whatever the attainment of heaven or liberation may be, If you were to choose, liberation is close at hand. Therefore, abandon the ten non-virtues and practice the ten virtues. Abandon the six things that cause fame to decline, Do not denigrate virtue or praise evil, It is said that the result is equal to what is done. Knowing the suffering of the lower realms, yet not fearing it, Clinging to the impermanent body

After committing sinful deeds, alas! It's pitiful to destroy oneself. The suffering of hungry ghosts and animals is terrifying. The suffering of the eighteen hells is truly dreadful. The suffering of birth, old age, sickness, and death is so long. The body is illusory, food and wealth are unreliable. Deluded relatives and friends are the shackles of samsara. Today, those who have freedom, do not be stingy with food, wealth, relatives, and friends related to yourselves, and do not generate attachment. Do not bully sentient beings who have no strength. Wine is like the poison of Hala, so be extremely careful. Do not be attached to other people's wives. Do not abandon agriculture that has no fruition, do not covet other people's property, and do not be thieves. In short, be careful in the actions of body, speech, and mind. In summary, the five heinous crimes and the near five heinous crimes, the four heavy sins and the eight wrongdoings, and the three blameworthy things, these evil deeds will surely lead to falling into the three lower realms. After people initially commit sinful deeds, if they generate strong remorse, cut off the continuation of sin, and practice virtue, they will surely obtain the result of higher realms. How is this manifested? The Buddha's teachings say that initially King Ajatasatru committed the five heinous crimes, but later generated faith from the hermits in the forest, and obtained the result with a heart of repentance. Therefore, one must immediately confess and practice virtue. Furthermore, initially being blamed for unreasonable words, if one regrets and confesses, one will be reborn as a daughter like a vajra. In short, the scriptures say to practice benefiting others, harming others for oneself will not lead to happiness. Ignorant beings only think of themselves, while the teacher Buddha thinks of others. The difference in the size of the result lies in this. For sentient beings threatened by hunger, helping them through food, wealth, and body, like King Shuddhalakarni, if one practices benefiting others, one will obtain the result. Knowing these things, if one knowingly commits sinful deeds, or commits sinful deeds out of ignorance, then the sin will increase a hundredfold. Therefore, do not strive for meaningless things, but always practice virtuous deeds. Because understanding the relationship between cause and effect requires the guidance of a virtuous friend, one must seek a true virtuous friend. Because a virtuous friend can indicate all good things, prevent all evils, indicate the correct path, and bring about results.
