Arrange the offerings. On the lower right row, arrange the seats for Indra, the lord of gods, the four great kings, the ten directional guardians, and all the protectors of the sacred Dharma. On the lower left row, arrange the seats for the twelve Yaksha generals. On the eastern side, on a small plate, bowl, or mandala base, arrange the seats for the noble Manjushri, Vajrapani, and Kṣemarāja (Bhaiṣajyaguru), as if they are gathered together, invited to recall their past vows, and performing activities in the manner described in the sutras. Their respective images should also be placed there. The cloth base on which the deities sit should also be surrounded by lotus patterns. On the central lotus or in front, erect nine beautifully adorned vases of consecrated water, making it pleasing and comfortable. On the outer cloth base, spread auspicious symbols, trees, and other appropriate decorations. Draw the outer five-colored celestial mansion, including the door frames and the horse landing, and decorate it with strings of pearls and necklaces. On top of these, also arrange the offerings such as deity food and water offerings. If it is difficult to draw with colors, then arrange flowers or make a mandala. Above, hang banners and umbrellas as much as possible. On the surface, also arrange victory banners and as many as forty-nine or more five-colored banners. The number of lamps should be less than fifty-four, but at least nine should be lit, continuously day and night. For the deity food, one portion each for the eight Tathagatas, one portion each for the noble Manjushri, Vajrapani, and Kṣemarāja (Bhaiṣajyaguru), one portion each for Indra and the four great kings, one portion for all the Dharma protectors in general, one portion each for the two Dharma deities, one portion each for the twelve Yaksha generals, and one large general torma, placing these separately in front of each of them as appropriate. On both sides, continuously recite the aspiration sutra of the seven Tathagatas day and night. To bestow the Dharma, prepare a seat and invite a monk to recite the scriptures as much as possible. In front of the arranged offerings, prepare seats for those who come to attend the offering, and properly arrange the five types of offerings in front of them.

The monks who play music and cymbals also take turns every month, each for half a month. The arrangement of offerings, in general, has no fixed standard; it can be in accordance with the qualities and splendor of the Pure Land of Sukhavati. At the very least, make a mandala offering, or offer with just a bowl of flower water. Strive to do as much as you can according to your means. Mental offerings should be thought of as vast and excellent in every way, and be firmly believed in. Also, make aspirations. The portion of divine food and the number of lamps can be reduced if circumstances do not allow, but if circumstances allow, increase them as much as possible. First, according to the ritual described in the sutras, cultivate the pervasion of loving-kindness and compassion towards all sentient beings. After arranging the offerings, the Sangha gathers and prostrates to all the noble beings of the ten directions. Then, from the perspective of whatever wisdom one is accustomed to, meditate on the samadhi of emptiness, in which all phenomena are without object, for an appropriate length of time. Afterwards, rise from samadhi and think: The meaning of all phenomena being without object is just like this. The noble ones have realized suchness, so their body, speech, and mind have become like the sky, without obscurations, possessing power and inconceivable blessings, and have attained such a state. Alas, these beings have not realized the suchness of the Dharma, and because of ignorance, they are tormented by afflictions and suffering, and have fallen into a pitiable state. All sentient beings, from beginningless samsara, in the various stages of transmigration, there is no one who has not been my kind teacher and a supreme field of merit. I also, when I first generated the supreme Bodhicitta, vowed to accomplish immeasurable things for the benefit and happiness of many beings. At that time, I had already taken all sentient beings as my responsibility, so in this situation, it is not appropriate for Bodhisattvas to abandon them. One should think: How can I liberate them from suffering and lead them to happiness? One should generate a strong mind of compassion and great love, and strive diligently. Again, think: I am a sentient being of a degenerate age, with weak actions and abilities, so relying on myself alone to immediately accomplish such a great thing
