Beginning with "It is pure," and up to "If one listens to this Sutra," it explains the method of listening to this Sutra. From "The glory of this Sutra," to "Completely liberated from all sins," it explains the benefits of listening. From "Jewels, mustard seeds, and turmeric," to "Wrapped with a clean cloth and filled," it explains the ritual of the vase as the main part of the bathing practice. From "Twenty-one times or," to "The king should always bathe," it explains the ritual of bathing through the number of times the Sutra is recited. These explain the summarized meaning of the benefits. The Bhagavan who possesses such characteristics of wisdom is to be spoken of, and this treatise is what speaks. It is necessary for the listener who possesses the door of explaining the Sutra to understand the meaning as it is. For the person who understands, the manifestation of two kinds of fruits is the necessity of necessities. The connection of these meanings should be understood through meaning, that is, as it is said: The treatise and the desired meaning, the four connections lie in two, it is said to be assembled for this reason, not separately from what is sought. Thus it is said. It is the explanation of the summarized meaning of the Vajra-vidāraṇā Dhāraṇī. Having explained the summarized meaning in this way, now the meaning of the words will be explained, that is, as it is said: One who wishes to speak the meaning of the Sutra should possess the summarized meaning of what is sought, possess the meaning of the words and the connection, and explain it with questions and answers. Thus it is taught. It is said: What kind of treatise is this? Who is the listener who hears it? At what time? Who is the teacher? Where is it taught? In order to dispel these doubts, the Vajradhara, the lord of the ten bhūmis, residing in the Iron Wheel, spoke "Thus," and so on. "Thus" means the meaning spoken by the Bhagavan, and there is no addition or subtraction to it. "I" means that I myself, from the Bhagavan,

It is called "not through transmission." The term "hearing" means that I hear through the consciousness of the ear, not through conceptualization, etc. The term "at one time" means that the Blessed One subdued the great army of demons at midnight. Or it also shows that he himself is a great listener or a man of measure. The term "Blessed One" means the one who possesses the subduing of the four demons, that is, the Blessed One, who is known as Shakyamuni, who possesses the appearance of a renunciate. Because of such subduing, it is said to be the Blessed One. The term "abiding on the vajra seat" means that on the vajra seat with the Bodhi tree, in the center of the perfect palace adorned with four doors, etc., he abides in the vajra posture, with the mudra of subduing demons. Or it refers to abiding in the samadhi of great loving-kindness. Because it has been shown that "great loving-kindness can subdue the power of demons." If you think that there are no other retinues here, it is true, because the Blessed One's attendants, such as the venerable Ananda, etc., are indeed not there, because they had not yet appeared at that time. However, it should be known that the Bodhisattvas of the Good Kalpa, etc., are actually there, otherwise it would contradict our scriptures. Or it should be known that it is composed of the wrathful ones of the family who have become limbs of the mandala. Thus it is taught, if the place, etc., are not shown, others will think that they will change themselves from this scripture, so they think like this. Just like this, because it has been shown that "the teacher and the retinue, and the power of freedom." They spoke of the introduction with perfections in order to guide the trainable beings. So what is shown after such guidance? In order to show its nature, it is said, "By the power of the Buddha," etc. The term "Buddha" refers to the great being who is particularly endowed with the exhaustion of outflows. Just like this, because "awakened from the sleep of ignorance, and also increased wisdom for what is to be known, so the Buddha expands like the petals of a lotus." The term "power" refers to their blessings.

It is like a magnet attracting iron. The one called "Vajrapani" is Samantabhadra himself. The one called "all bodies" is the body because of accumulation, that is, the parts of the body that arise from the accumulation of Vajrapani's retinue. The one called "blessed as Vajra" is like a precious Vajra, transforming oneself into the nature of wisdom. The one called "entering into Vajra Samadhi" is dwelling in non-conceptual wisdom, and with the subsequent wisdom, transforming the illusory body into a mandala, and with the thought of having the authority to explain the tantras, focusing single-mindedly on Samadhi. Thus, with non-conceptual wisdom, all dharmas are seen as being like the center of the sky, and with subsequent wisdom, all dharmas are seen as being like illusions. Thus it is said. This speech declares: When the Bhagavan was about to attain complete enlightenment, many hosts of demons descended on the earth and in the sky to obstruct him. The Tathagatas blessed Vajrapani and said: Son of the lineage, transform your body into a fierce wrathful one and subdue these demons! After saying this, Vajrapani himself transformed his body into the great wrathful king, Vajra Destroyer, with a blue-green body, an open mouth, furrowed eyebrows, reddish-yellow hair, one face, three eyes, two hands, the right hand holding a vajra at the heart, the left hand making a threatening gesture, the left foot extended on a vajra seat, possessing an extremely majestic posture, wearing silk and cloth upper and lower garments, adorned with snakes, dwelling in a great mass of flames like a blazing fire, transforming into a form that subdues all the untamed in the center of the mandala. So, what did he do after that? The emanation of the retinue of wrathful deities is explained by the words "then" and so on. The one called "then" is immediately after the main deity entered into Samadhi. The one called "Vajrapani" is the one in whose hand the vajra dwells, so he is called that, just as holding an object in the hand, it is a symbol of wisdom dwelling nearby.
