Recitations and the like should be done. Here, the methods of the above rituals are clearly and extensively mentioned in the tantra itself. If one wishes to create a mandala for fire offering, first, on the heart of the deceased's corpse or image, write the deity that the deceased touched at the time of death. If there is no deity, write the essence of any other deity, such as the one that purifies bad destinies, with saffron on paper and place it on the heart. Similarly, write the essence that purifies karmic obscurations and place it on the crown of the head. Then, contemplate that the essence written on the heart is that deity, that the corpse has transformed into that deity, and bless it. Then, place the corpse facing west on a bed or platform in a clean place. The mantra practitioner faces east, creates seven mandalas, arranges peaceful offerings, and sets out two sacrificial tormas properly. If possible, hang banners and umbrellas as available. Then, enter into the yoga of one's own deity as prescribed, invite the Sugatas with their retinue, prostrate and offer, urge them to keep their vows, offer tormas to those who keep their vows, entrust them with activities, and extensively give to beings, freeing them from karmic debts, etc., in accordance with other texts. On the hearts of those Sugatas, write the letters to be recited, either "Namo Bhagavate" (Tibetan: ན་མོ་བྷ་ག་བ་ཏེ་, Sanskrit Devanagari: नमो भगवते, Sanskrit Roman transliteration: Namo bhagavate, literal Chinese meaning: Homage to the Bhagavan) or "Om Sarva Durgati" (Tibetan: ཨོཾ་སརྦ་དུརྒ་ཏི, Sanskrit Devanagari: ओं सर्व दुर्गति, Sanskrit Roman transliteration: Om sarva durgati, literal Chinese meaning: Om, all, bad destinies), whichever is appropriate. Similarly, contemplate it on one's own heart as well. Recite the name and mantra of the peaceful deity as prescribed, and recite as much as possible for as many days as possible. If there are others who know the ritual, build a peaceful fire pit properly in that place or another, arrange the four mudras, set out offerings, tormas, and substances for burning as prescribed, offer and give tormas properly, and perform the fire offering ritual, etc., for as many days as possible. Furthermore, in order to purify obscurations and accumulate merit, it is appropriate to build stupas, read profound sutras, and give generously as much as possible, and to engage in extensive virtuous activities. Having done as much virtuous activity as possible, in order to examine the site, perform the earth ritual as prescribed, and then dig on one side of the mandala.
