Earth, etc. Emptiness and the true limit, signlessness and ultimate meaning, the realm of phenomena are synonyms. Why is it that the conventional is obscured by obscurations, and the ultimate is unchanging? Because of the two kinds of knowledge, true and untrue, there are two truths. If it is said that there is no true knowledge, it is true that it exists only nominally. In seeking it, one should first say that everything exists. When the meanings are understood and there is no attachment, then later there is the meaning of distinguishing. The two truths are neither one nor different, because four faults are spoken of. Whoever understands one and different is one who has entered the wrong path. If there is an acceptance of things, then endless desire and hatred will arise. Holding wrong views, disputes will arise from that. For those who have a concept of an object, there is no attainment and no realization. There is no subsequent tolerance, so what need is there to mention nirvana? If one views emptiness incorrectly, then one with little wisdom will be ruined. Just as there is harm in grasping a snake incorrectly, and harm in practicing mantras incorrectly. All the Buddhas have said that emptiness is the definite way to escape all views. Those who view emptiness are said to be unattainable. Those who see existence and non-existence through self-nature and other-nature are not those who truly see the Buddha's teachings. Non-existence is counted as the companion of existence, and existence is also counted as the companion of non-existence. Therefore, non-existence should not be spoken of, nor should it be thought of as existence. The one who exists goes to the happy realms, and the one who does not exist turns into a bad realm. In order to fully understand the truth, one becomes a Madhyamika by not relying on either side. Riding in the chariot of two principles, holding the firm yoke of wisdom, they therefore attain the true meaning, only the Mahayanists. From how forms and so on appear, to all the qualities of the Sugata-garbha, with the example of the horns of a rabbit and a bull, one should become familiar with the nature of Madhyamika. It is neither existent nor non-existent, nor both existent and non-existent, neither two nor self-existent. The one who is definitely liberated from the four extremes is the Madhyamika accepted by the wise. If Madhyamika is liberated from the extremes, since it is free from the extremes, there is no Madhyamika either. Whoever sees without extremes or center, that is the true view, it is the unsurpassed view. The wise should always meditate on it. What

Entering into this right view, one will surely attain omniscience. Those who speak of mere appearances, assert that the nature is threefold: the completely imputed, the dependent, and the perfectly established. They arise from discrimination and causes, and are immutable, hence the order. By whatever discriminations, whatever things are discriminated, by that very completely imputed nature, that essence is nonexistent. The nature of the dependent is discrimination, arising from conditions. Establishment is the former to it, whatever constantly becomes nonexistent. By the two extremes of existence and nonexistence, therefore, that itself is the dependent, neither different nor not different, spoken of like impermanence and so forth. By the examples of crystal and beryl, one should know the three natures. Imputed as self and phenomena, as well as pure and impure, the immutable, non-inverted nature, each in order is also twofold. All virtuous wisdom is diligent in the inner mind. The pure consciousness that is liberated from the grasped and the grasper exists for the sake of the ultimate meaning. None of the phenomena have any arising, nor is there any slight cessation, but only the arisen alone transforms into arising and ceasing. Those phenomena that are nonexistent appear; they are not from matter nor from others, nor from nonexistence because of two faults, therefore the nature of knowing exists. Consciousness is said to arise in extreme opposition from the nature of matter. Whatever is the non-mind nature, if asked, that is established as the wisdom of self-nature. Space, wind, sun, ocean, directions, and lotus ponds are parts of the true inner consciousness, appearing like external objects. Because they appear as the nature of clarity, their connections are not hidden. By relating to what one knows what, by that knower that knowable becomes known. Like the edge and tip of a sword, if it is said that wisdom abandons self-grasping, it is said in the definitive explanation that the appearance of self is not abandoned. Therefore, the characteristic of wisdom is established as self-awareness. Because that nature is difficult to realize, one cannot examine this nature. Because that self-awareness is also subtle, the Buddhas see it as subtle. Although it abides in itself like myself, it is not seen because of delusion. Because clarity and wisdom are of the nature of self, because there is a connection, it is only meaning. The nature of knowing is truth.
