The Song of Seeing the Dharmadhatu The Song of Seeing the Dharmadhatu In Sanskrit: Dharma-dhatu-sara-gita. In Tibetan: The Song of Seeing the Dharmadhatu. Homage to the All-Knowing. If one does not fully know, Revolving in the three realms, To all sentient beings, Constantly abiding, I pay homage to the Dharmadhatu. Seeing the Dharmadhatu and not other, These I will describe in order. Profound, peaceful, free from elaboration, suchness, Luminous, uncompounded, What is unborn, unceasing, pure from the beginning, The nature of nirvana is the basis. The Dharmadhatu has no beginning and no end, The eye of wisdom is extremely subtle, View it without conceptualization, Without sinking, rising, or dimness. Whatever is the cause of samsara, That itself performs actions, Purification is nirvana, The Dharmakaya is also that. Just as when milk is mixed, The essence of butter is not visible, Likewise, when mixed with afflictions, The Dharmadhatu is also not seen. Just as when milk is purified, The essence of butter becomes stainless, Likewise, when afflictions are purified, The Dharmadhatu becomes extremely stainless. Just as when a lamp is placed inside a jar, It does not appear even slightly, Likewise, when afflictions are placed inside a jar, The Dharmadhatu is also not visible. Wherever there is darkness and light, If a hole is made in the jar, From that very direction, The nature of light will arise. When the vajra of samadhi, Shatters that very jar, At that time, its space, Will appear up to the limit. The Dharmadhatu is unborn, It will never cease, At all times there are no afflictions, Without beginning, middle, or end, free from defilement. Just as a precious beryl, Is always luminous, But when it dwells inside a stone, Its light is not clear. Likewise, the Dharmadhatu, which is extremely stainless, Bound by afflictions, Its light is not clear in samsara. Just as when covered by husks, One does not desire the grain of rice, Likewise, when covered by afflictions, It is not recognized as Buddha. Just as when freed from husks, The grain of rice appears, Likewise, when freed from afflictions, The nature of the Dharmakaya is extremely clear. Just as a child in a pregnant woman's womb, Although present, it is not

Because it is not me, similarly obscured by afflictions, therefore the realm of Dharma is not seen. Because the realm of Dharma is not me, not a woman nor a man, liberated from all that is grasped, how it is held should be examined. Impurity, impermanence, suffering, with these three actions the mind is tamed. Emptiness is the essence of what is taught, as the Buddhas have said, all these can make afflictions cease, it does not cause that realm to decline. The supreme mind is the tamer, the Dharma is without self-nature. Just like the horns on a rabbit's head, after examination they do not exist. Similarly, all phenomena, after examination they do not exist. The nature of the finest dust, even a bull's horn cannot be discerned. Just like before, so too afterwards, what should be examined about this? Dependent arising, and dependent ceasing, existence is also non-existence, how do children contemplate? The nature of the Dharma realm is space, like a realm without deception, without conditions, without birth, aging, abiding, and destruction, it is unconditioned. Buddha and Dharma are without difference, obtaining such a lineage, without falsehood, without deception, without harm, it is primordially self-nature peaceful. Because that is like the ocean, sounds, metaphors, and wisdom, cannot find its depth and the other shore, therefore it is extremely profound. Because the Dharma realm has no difference, therefore there cannot be different views. However, due to the difference of wisdom, slightly different views are spoken. Those who speak of the Middle Way, consider that meaning to be the two truths. Conventional and ultimate, those who know the difference between the two truths, will not be confused about the Sugata's teachings, those who accumulate all the accumulations, will reach the perfect other shore. Self and mine, permanence and annihilation, afflictions, purification, cause and effect, all the elaborations of what is grasped and what grasps, this is the conventional truth. Emptiness, selflessness, peace, whatever is obscured by elaborations, different, non-meaning, non-discrimination, this is the ultimate truth. True and not true, names and not names, therefore the two are separated. Merely a symbol, appearance, fame, thing, name, delusion, illusion, conventionality is a name.
