Since knowledge arises without any desire, it does not negate understanding; since bliss and emptiness are experienced as inseparable, one does not think of afflictions and antidotes, and one abides without any hope for results; since all appearances are the Great Seal, one meditates continuously like a river. There are three distinctions in practice: by experiencing bliss and emptiness as inseparable, the confusion of indifference is cut off; on the basis of scripture and reasoning, having the guru's instructions, there is the distinction of not being deluded; at the time of the ordinary ground, the result, wisdom, etc., are inherently present, so there is the distinction of not being deluded. There are three signs: the sign of experiencing appearance as emptiness is like seeing an ice cube; then the sign of experiencing bliss and emptiness as inseparable is like the ice cube becoming water; the third sign of appearance dissolving into the mind is like the ice cube dissolving into water, becoming one taste in great bliss. There are five conducts: without increase or decrease, like a great road; relying without partiality, like a foundation; without virtue or vice, like a mad elephant; without hope or fear, like a lion; not clinging to pervasiveness, like the sun. There are two inconceivable things: experiencing the inconceivable, and the knowledge of experience being inconceivable. Among these, not grasping the face of spontaneous accomplishment is not being timid. The inconceivable has realities. Reality is that the cause is inconceivable, the means are inconceivable, and the result is spontaneously arising without thought. Experiencing the inconceivable has twenty kinds of thoughts like similes, what are the twenty? For example, if everything were to become a golden ground, just as copper and gold are inseparable, when everything is realized as great bliss and emptiness, one does not distinguish between relative and ultimate; just as loosening a bond is liberation, loosening the yogi's mind is liberation; just as a prisoner who has escaped from prison goes wherever he pleases, the yogi's mind is let go wherever it pleases; like a crow flying from a boat, one does not chase after the mind that has strayed from the object; just as hooking the nose of a mad elephant with a hook, one can hook various objects with the hook of non-arising and enjoy them as desirable qualities; just as the mind of a tamed mad elephant is happy and relaxed, the yogi's mind is happy.

Keep the field level. Like a spark igniting a flame, ignite the fire of appearance in the unborn. Like the joy of a young woman, experience is beyond words. Like salt dissolving in water, dissolve whatever arises in the unborn. Like a candle illuminating itself, great bliss illuminates itself. Like an abandoned house that does not rely on anything, Mahamudra does not rely on anything. Like the animal Patara without acceptance or rejection, the yogi should be without acceptance or rejection. Like the herb Bhatari, the fruit is naturally present at the time of the cause. Like the householder's weapon wheel, there is no dualistic clinging in experience. Like a river непрерывно, meditate continuously on experience. Like a vessel for food, one should not be attached to desires. Like a vulture's corpse mountain, place awareness in the unborn. Like the center of empty space, one should have no preference for doctrines. Just as the great ocean does not move, the profound and vast meaning should not move. Like a reflection in water, the yogi should realize it like a reflection. There are four ways in which certainty arises regarding the instructions: the nature of the four mudras, understanding the necessity of the cause, discerning it itself, and showing the self in the scripture. Third, there are four things to be discerned: the karma mudra is explained as the Bodhi tree, the dharma mudra is explained as the golden wheel, the mahamudra is explained as the Nyagrodha tree, and the samaya mudra is explained as the essence of Arura. So, what is the connection between the Bodhi tree and the karma mudra? From the Tantra of the Excellent Heruka: The consort is endowed with beauty and youth, and the first state is filled with Bodhicitta, like the trunk and branches of the Bodhi tree, extremely soft and full of luster, three sets of five white colors are born, two black sides, one white side burns, ten tens and five are the fruits, a drop of black powder falls, whoever drinks it destroys all diseases. Therefore, the karma mudra with realization, relying on and remembering what arises together, the happiness of the karma mudra greatly increases, purifying.

The fruit that ripens while dwelling there is the very Heruka who possesses realization. Because yogis are extremely skilled in symbols, the Bodhi tree should be taken. So it is said. What is the connection between the Dharma wheel and the Dharma king? The teacher Kamala said: Cut off the conceptualizations of old age and death, cut off the conceptualizations of grasping and being grasped. Practice the realization like a wheel. Understanding that the spokes are equal is the same taste. Its characteristic is like the nature of gold. The wisdom of bliss and emptiness, without duality, is equal. Like the two sides of a wheel, the surroundings are equal. So it is said. What is the connection between Mahamudra and the Nyagrodha tree? The prophecy of Manjushri says: The branches and trunks of the Nyagrodha trees at the top are free from impurities. Drinking cool water and sap eliminates both heat and cold. The roots are good and thick, and many branches grow. It eliminates poison from the earth and is always new in all seasons. The water surface is covered, and it grows without winter or summer. The surrounding area of the earth is filled with fragrance. Fruits and flowers drip with fine streams. From one branch, three steps appear simultaneously. They grow luxuriantly, and flowers and fruits appear simultaneously. That tree is born from taste. But taste is not able to produce it. It is a collection of true causes and conditions. It is not mixed with manure, nor is it accomplished by water. What are these? They should be explained: If the realization that is neither mistaken nor not mistaken, and is nothing at all, is spontaneously accomplished, then there is bliss. Because there is no need to examine this, abandoning all actions, deeds, and thoughts is called Mahamudra. "Mistaken" means afflictions, which cannot be abandoned. "Not mistaken" means wisdom, which cannot be taught. Experiencing non-duality means not thinking about it. The realization that is nothing at all is the fruit, free from hope. All of that is the bliss of spontaneous accomplishment. There is no need to examine this Mahamudra of oral instruction anywhere. In particular, it is separate from the continuum and fruition of virtuous and non-virtuous actions. The means is to be separate from actions, and no-mind is peace. Abandoning attachment to the manifestation of the fruit, and all the signs of duality, is Mahamudra, the fourteenth bhumi. Whatever that is, is the very nature of reality.
