For example, just as cloth made from black thread becomes black. If it were not so, then how could one take what is consistent? It is not so, because the cause is other and the effect is other, the cause itself does not become the effect. Therefore, what is the use of examining how things that are different in essence are consistent? Just as a small loquat tree seed does not grow into a tree with branches and other properties, what is the meaning of becoming consistent in that way? Or, the so-called nature of skillful means and wisdom is merely to make it clear, and one should know that the coemergent nature is the very blissful wisdom. Skillful means and wisdom are merely to make it clear. In this way, by exhausting the obscurations of habit, one realizes the self-knowing of that very suchness, just like illuminating a vase with a butter lamp. Or, the sound of skillful means and wisdom refers to all things of existence and non-existence, and any such thing of existence and non-existence is not other than the very nature of suchness. Even so, existence and non-existence are characterized by mutual exclusion, so how can that very suchness arise from their essence? That is not good. It should be understood that this eliminates both objects of the nature of existence and non-existence, and in this way, if the essence of a thing is manifestly established, it eliminates the essence of non-existence, and the essence of non-existence also obstructs the thing. Just as a thing with a separately determined nature eliminates both essences. Therefore, the nature of things and non-things, etc., do not have that very suchness as their object, because both have faults. Does this not mean that the nature of awareness is also not present in that very suchness? In this way, what kind of awareness would an uncertain nature become? The object is also confused, and in this way, whatever is perceived as uncertain, such as an illusion and the form of a man, becomes confused, therefore, whatever is...
