Being apart from those grounds. This will block the position of all speakers, and is the ultimate conclusion of the essence of general meaning. In order to show that just as the yogi who is learning practices the stages of union, so too should conduct be practiced and practiced in the same way. Abiding in the state of union, the great yogi who is learning, because of practicing union, conduct is also non-dual with it. Thus it is said, how the yogi abiding in the stages of union practices union, similarly conduct is also non-dual, just like obtaining the fruit, being apart from dualistic conceptualization, conduct should be practiced and practiced, this is the literal meaning. In order to explain it through the distinctions of caste, merit, action, and substance. Like oneself, so is the enemy, like the wife, so is the father, like the prostitute, so is the mother, like the Brahmin, so is the outcaste. Thus it is said, for that yogi, upon oneself and the enemy, arising similar attention, because the difference between self and other is not observed. Similarly, the mind is the same for the place of happiness and the taming wife and father. Similarly, the mind is the same for the prostitute and mother who should be gone to and not gone to, there is no difference from the perspective of substance. There is no difference between the outcaste and the Brahmin, this is no difference in caste, this is the literal meaning. Furthermore, in order to explain, like skin, so is clothing, like butter, so is poison, like alcohol, so is urine, like rice, so is excrement. Thus it is said, when wearing clothes, one should know that there is no difference between skin and clothes. Similarly, butter and poison, which are harmful things such as flowing and non-flowing, should also be known to be the same. Similarly, when eating and drinking, rice and excrement, winter wine and urine should be known to be non-different, this is no difference in substance. This is the literal meaning. Furthermore, like good-smelling camphor, similarly the smell arising from excrement, like words of praise. Thus it is said, there is no difference between good-smelling and bad-smelling camphor and excrement, etc.

It is so, there is no difference in qualities. Praise and blame, know that they are not two, just like the literal meaning. Furthermore, as it is said: "The fierce Vajra-holder is also like that, Just as the day is also like the night, Just as the dream is also like the seeing, Just as the fear is also like the dwelling." The fierce one refers to the great god. The Vajra-holder refers to the great Vajradhara. Know that these are not different, because from the perspective of the Dharmakaya, they are the same. As it is said: "Whatever other doctrines are spoken, All that exist with distinctions of signs, Should not be disparaged, They are transformations of Vajrasattva." As it is said, day and night should also be known as not different, because the nature of luminosity pervades both, so they are the same. Dream and seeing are waking, these should also be known as not different, because there is no external reality, they are merely appearing separately, so there is no difference for them. Similarly, fear and dwelling are fear and birth, these should also be known as not different. Because of these, for interdependent phenomena, there is temporarily no birth, because there is no birth, so there is also no cessation. Therefore, for children, these appear separately due to delusion. But from the ultimate truth, there is neither birth nor cessation, because all phenomena rely on luminosity. As it is said: "Here there is no birth, Nor is there any death. The nature of mind always abides, Know that samsara is nirvana." This is what is said in the third chapter, just like the literal meaning. Furthermore, in order to explain further, as it is said: "Just as happiness is also like suffering, Just as hatred is also like a child, Avici is like the heavenly realm, So are sin and merit." For happiness that brings joy and displeasure, and for suffering, yogis do not see a difference, because the nature of desire and non-desire, etc., dissolve into luminosity and arise from it. As it is said: "Just as clouds are of various kinds, Colors and shapes are different, Having arisen in the realm of space, They also dissolve into it. Likewise, self-
