That which is understood by relying on signs is called "thus." "Consciousness," and so on, are easy to understand. If it is said that what is to be understood by relying on "thus" does not understand "thus" itself, therefore, the Sutra of the Transfer of Consciousness, and so on, are mentioned. "The wind element is not form" means that it is without form but with obstruction. "It can be pointed out and grasped, it appears" means that it appears conventionally. The rest is easy to understand. "Self-awareness alone Of wisdom is" means the wisdom of mere self-appearance. If asked, how is it so? "Like the sky, it has no characteristics" means that it is like the sky, devoid of the characteristics of things. If asked, is there no difference? "However, it has differences" means that although it is free from grasping and being grasped, there are still differences. If asked, how many? There are three kinds of differences here. If asked, why? Because it has been explained that "day and night, and the difference of intervals," means that the interval is the master of day and night. What is the meaning? Appearances, etc., have already been explained. If asked, what is its basis? To explain, its basis will also be explained. It means that the basis of consciousness, together with its distinctions, is explained. What is it? Subtle form is consciousness. "Wind and" means wind itself. "Wisdom, etc., are mixed" means that wind and consciousness accompany each other. "Arising from the path of the senses" means arising from the channels that rely on the senses. "It focuses on objects" means focusing on forms, etc. "When it has appearance" means having the characteristics of objects. What will it become? "Wind is the mount, consciousness rides the wind," means that consciousness rides the wind, and it will become like that. What will it become from that? At that time, all natures will arise, the nature of delusion, as well as afflictions and views. Where will nature arise again? "Wherever the wind dwells, nature arises there," means that wind and consciousness accompany each other, arising from attachment to objects, which is a concluding word. To clarify this meaning, it refers to these three appearances alone.
