In the commentary called "Clarifying the Meaning of Difficult Points," the explanation of the fourth stage. Explanation of the fifth stage. Then, in order to show the stage of union, it is said, "The protector himself, with cause and effect." Here, the protector is the great Vajradhara. With cause and effect, that which produces the fruit is the cause. That which arises from it and is able to accomplish the purpose is the effect. Understanding that cause and effect are inseparable is called completely abandoning all duality. What does it do? It is connected to saying, "Having prostrated, I will explain." What is it? It is said to explain the final stage of union. In order to explain in detail the stage of union that has been explained, it is said, "Samsara and Nirvana." Here, Samsara is the continuous cycle from ignorance to old age and death. Nirvana is liberation from the suffering of Samsara. These are grasped because they appear as dualistic. That in which these two exist inseparably is union. Where "all afflictions" are, etc., is the same as before. When the dharma of things has aspects, it is with aspects. Why? Because it has the aspect of an object of focus. That which is without things is without aspects. The yogi practices non-duality. That is, the yogi is non-dual, and the two are not different or separate, and one does not focus on the nature of one. This is union. Grasping at the grasped is the grasped and the grasper, that is, the object and the subject. These two are inseparable, and one does not focus on the nature of one. This is union. Permanence and annihilation are permanence and annihilation, and the absence of that thought is union. If one asks, "Does it exist from another?" then it becomes permanent. If one asks, "Does it not exist?" then it becomes annihilation. The Middle Way is without an object of focus. Wisdom is the characteristic of being able to discriminate well. Compassion is compassion. That which is inseparable from these two is called that. This stage is the realm of activity of the Buddhas. That is, it is the realm of the Buddhas, because it is not that of others. Skillful means and wisdom are equally entered into. That is, it is to go to the other shore of skillful means and wisdom. This is to be trained in conduct.

I should know. That which has remainder is the aggregates with remainder. That which has no remainder is without remainder. These two are non-dual, it is union. The self of a person is grasping at a person as self. Grasping at dharma is grasping at dharma as self. Because it is free from the two kinds of self-grasping. The self-blessed is the conventional truth. The clear light is the ultimate truth. The two are non-dual, it is union. Grasping as a whole is grasping as a whole. Destroying accordingly is destroying accordingly. The two are non-dual, it is union. Entering, abiding, and rising are the union of the three winds. Its non-differentiation is union. Focusing on suchness is the time of abiding in equanimity. From where does one rise is from subsequent attainment. Abiding in equanimity and subsequent attainment both completely pure and non-different is union. Falling asleep is falling asleep. Awakening is awakening. Where there is neither falling asleep nor awakening is union. The rest is easy to understand. Attachment and liberation from non-attachment means liberation from non-attachment and non-duality. Possessing a body of supreme joy. It means appearing as a body according to whatever one desires. Samsara exists and abides. It means as long as samsara exists, the Buddha abides. Whatever such samadhi is, it is called that. The rest is easy to understand. Manifest enlightenment in the net of illusion. It means becoming a Buddha in a state of non-duality. In other scriptures it is also said: When the Bhagavan Vajradhara, the body of all Buddhas combined, possessing the nature of supreme expression, from the wisdom of this mind, there is no pure and impure, in this there is no obscuration and non-obscuration, no samsara and nirvana, no equipoise and subsequent attainment, in this there is no ultimate and conventional, no light and darkness, no male and female and hermaphrodite, no mundane and supramundane, in this all distinctions such as duality, are naturally completely pure. In this the entities of duality, are not substantially existent, there is no seed of irregular duality, nor has it become one. The yogi who desires to attain it, abides in the state of ultimate truth, having risen
