One side. Cessation refers to the side of worldly heretics. Abandoning the minds of these two, whoever knows that suchness of equality is indeed the wise one, not others. As it is said: The great self-existent one is without dispute, in him there is no side. Why? Because in him there is no other side, and no self-side exists. Thus it is said. Furthermore, all things of beings, are delightful when unexamined, but when examined and destroyed, things do not exist. Thus it is said. Examining all dharmas as without self-nature is wisdom, thinking of all beings as separated from the aspect of suffering is compassion. Furthermore, when for the sake of sentient beings, one examines with non-discriminating wisdom, into what order does one enter? The Blessed One considers it the realm of extremely profound wisdom. Having comprehended the nature of means and wisdom, the entirety of the stable and moving entity, not relying on one side and abiding, that is also called union. As it is said: Whoever relies on the wisdom beyond and relies on compassion as the conventional, therefore in beings there are no sentient beings, and one truly understands their meaning. When the compassion that generates the ten powers seizes one, you understand beings like a father understands his only child. Thus it is said. Remainder refers to the aggregates of afflictions, abiding with them is abiding with remainder. The opposite of that is without remainder. The opposite of that is without discrimination. Where the nature of the two discriminations does not exist, that is union. Where, regarding beings, the difference between selflessness and, regarding dharmas, selflessness, abandoning the two discriminations, that is also union. Having understood the blessing of oneself and, after entering the order of luminosity, those themselves become mixed in the state of the Middle Way, that is union. Grasping everything as complete in the state of emptiness, entering through the order of subsequent entry, by the power of intention, whoever arises from that, and union. First, knowing the difference between the conventional and ultimate truths, then at another time, the two sides...

Becoming quiescent and existent is the union. Where there is no focus on emptiness and no arising from it, that is the union. That itself is the path of the middle way state for yogis. Abandoning the discriminations of sleeping and waking is said to be the nature of union, for the sake of teaching all sentient beings. What is called sleeping is not engaging in the affairs of sentient beings. What is called waking is engaging in the affairs of sentient beings. Completely abandoning these, spontaneously accomplishing oneself, perfecting the affairs of sentient beings, is the meaning of that. As it is said: Like a wish-fulfilling jewel, fulfilling the intentions of all beings without exception. By the power of the merit of sentient beings, from then on one will be able to see the form of the Victorious One. Thus it is said. Samadhi is the state of pacifying the mind. Non-samadhi is the mind being distracted. Any yogi who is without these two, should know that he abides in union. Existence is manifestly clinging to the side of what is grasped. Non-existence is completely purifying wrong views. Abandoning these is union. Non-remembrance is forgetting the meaning of what is heard. Remembrance is the opposite of that. Since it is constantly spontaneously accomplished, one is necessarily liberated from these. Therefore, it is the nature of constantly arising, it is the meaning of abiding in all places as desired. Attachment is clinging to the enjoyments of existence. Non-attachment is not clinging to it. Completely abandoning those two sides, focusing on the middle way, abiding in samsara for as long as it lasts is steadfast. As it is said: Whoever abides by the power of others with great compassion. Thus it is said. The body of supreme joy is the state of constantly being extremely joyful. Whoever has such a thing is the one who possesses it. As it is said: The world realm is infinite, discerning with great compassion, constantly rejoicing for sentient beings, gradually maturing them. Thus it is said. Furthermore, if sentient beings are liberated, whatever is the ocean of joy, therefore it is certainly perfected,
