and because it is the holder of the senses. Those are abandoned as being without substance in the ultimate sense, and it will also appear below that form is said to be like a bubble. It is explained by such things. Refuting the view of the Mind-Only school is the equality of no-self of phenomena, that is, the phenomena therein are, in short, the five aggregates. Since they hold the general and specific characteristics, it is also said in the scriptures that they are called phenomena because they hold the characteristics. What is called no-self is like a snake shedding its skin. Within the aggregates of the body, the previous aggregates are abandoned and the later aggregates are taken. It is the nature of investigation and the basis of ego-grasping. I is what the tirthikas investigate. Similarly, after eliminating the Buddhist dharma and the tirthika's dharma-self, it is established as merely the mind-only. Just as the five aggregates and no-self are the same as the mind-only, it is called the equality of no-self of phenomena. In the following, this mind-only is explained in various ways. Thus, after eliminating the view of things and so on, the great establishment of the meaning of the Middle Way is that one's own mind is originally unborn. That is, in the ultimate sense, one's own mind is also not born, because it transcends existence and non-existence. Thus, it is not like something created by the tirthikas' Ishvara and so on. Originally unborn, if the mind has already existed from the beginning, then there is no need to be born. If things do not exist, then how can non-existence be born? Thus, immediately after the absence of the extremes of existence and non-existence, birth in the Middle Way is not observed. So what kind of nature is it? It is the nature of emptiness, without things, like space. For example, space, space, exists in name, but if examined, it is empty. Thus, in the Perfection of Wisdom Sutra, the yogi meditates on space, as it is said, the Perfection of Wisdom Sutra is meditated upon. That meditation is vowed. The vow to cultivate the mind of enlightenment in the ultimate sense will be shown. How the Buddhas, Bhagavan, etc., of which how is an example. The Buddhas, Bhagavan, are Vairochana Buddha, etc., who are both Buddhas and

Also, the Blessed One. Among these, the Buddha is like an awakened person, awakened from the sleep of ignorance, and like a lotus flower opening, comprehending all dharmas, with a vast mind. The so-called Blessed One, in the Hearer Vehicle, is the one who has conquered the four maras. In this way, having exhausted the outflows of ignorance, he has conquered the Mara of Afflictions, because all afflictions arise from ignorance. Having exhausted the outflows of existence, he has conquered the Mara of Death, because he has abandoned the suffering of formations and is therefore free from attachment. Having exhausted the outflows of views, he has conquered the Mara of Aggregates, because the aggregates of clinging are the view of the perishable collection. Having exhausted the outflows of desire, he has conquered the Mara of the Son of the Gods, because he has abandoned perverse desire. Thus, having conquered the four maras, he possesses the wisdom of exhaustion and non-arising. Or, in the Bodhisattva Vehicle, poverty, evil destinies, ugly form, lack of fame, lack of splendor, and ignorance are conquered in sequence by the six perfections, thereby possessing the fruit of mastery, supreme excellence, beauty, fame, splendor, and wisdom. Or, in the Mind-Only school of the Tathagatagarbha, by the manifestation of Suchness and the Ten Powers, the Alaya Consciousness and the obscurations of knowledge are conquered, thereby possessing mirror-like wisdom. By the manifestation of the four নির্ভীকnesses of the true limit, the afflicted mind and the obscurations of affliction are conquered, thereby possessing the wisdom of equality. By the manifestation of individually and correctly knowing without signs, the discriminating consciousness and the obscurations of karma are conquered, thereby possessing discriminating awareness wisdom. By the manifestation of ultimate truth and great compassion, the entering consciousness and the obscurations of birth are conquered, thereby possessing accomplishing wisdom. These four are the wisdom of exhaustion, and solely because of this, what arises is the nature of the wisdom of knowing non-arising, which is the wisdom of the Dharmadhatu. The Madhyamaka school of the Tathagatagarbha, with non-dual wisdom, conquers all obscurations of knowledge and so forth, and because it possesses non-discriminating wisdom, it is the Blessed One.
