One should not associate with armies, giants, and young people, One should not tell stories, murals, and tales of past history, One should not speak of sensual desires or prostitutes. This is the seventh chapter, showing the path to liberation. Chapter Eight, Showing Emptiness: Just as a tree, if its root is not cut, Branches will grow from it, If the root of afflictions is not cut, The affliction of clinging to reality arises. Therefore, in order to destroy the demon of afflictions, One should meditate on the emptiness of all phenomena, As I have said in the sutras, Listen with a joyful mind. The Blessed One, Vajrapani, said, The summary of the divisions of emptiness is: By what does a yogi know? He will know that emptiness. For the sake of incompatibility and antidote, The practice of emptiness is fully proclaimed. The phenomena that are the nature of inner self, Are the antidote to pervasive conceptualization, And the aspects of perversion, Are explained as emptiness of inner and outer. Being separated from external objects of focus, Is explained as external emptiness. The phenomena of inner rituals, And not conceptualizing external objects, Here, inner and outer and disease, Are truly explained as emptiness. The container world being separated from its support, Is called great emptiness. In order to perfect diligence and wisdom, One should follow after it. The empty incompatible aspect of that, The emptiness of non-things is emptiness. In ultimate truth, Is the false reality, Knowing ultimate emptiness. With conditioned giving and so forth, Because there is no object of merit, One's own conceptualization is the practice itself, The emptiness of conditioned things is explained. True enlightenment is unconditioned, And there is no object of cause, Abandoning the distinctions of real and unreal, The emptiness of the unconditioned is proclaimed. For the sake of sentient beings, aspirations and so forth, Great joy and so forth have no object, Completely abandoning all pervasive conceptualization, The emptiness that transcends limits is proclaimed. With the beginningless and endless world, For the sake of benefiting beings, aspiration itself, Is said to be without pride, That is the emptiness without beginning or end. There is no object of focus in nirvana, Not abandoning the nature of virtue, Is said to be without pride, The emptiness without abandonment. Defilements such as desire, Are pure by their own nature, Thus, it is said to be without pride, Nature is

Appears as emptiness. The form body with marks and beauties, etc., is virtue. Not fixating on others either, its own characteristic is emptiness. The dharmas of the path to enlightenment, even in conduct, have no arrogance. All dharmas are taught as emptiness. The dharmas of self and person are supreme in being without fabricated entities. Severing all bonds, it is said that things are empty. How is emptiness manifest? Thus, knowing the absence of things, and again not fixating, is considered the emptiness of no-thingness. Thus, the division of emptiness is also for the sake of countering habitual tendencies. That which was spoken by the supreme speaker is for the sake of destroying the afflictive demons. Yogis always meditate. The eighth chapter, the chapter on emptiness, is complete. Chapter Nine: Showing the Clear Light and Union Now, please explain how the mode of emptiness is taught. The Vajra Master, the Teacher, also said: Now, all dharmas are truly Not taken as things in themselves, Like illusion, dream, mirage, Because they arise from the power of conditions. Because there is nothing to be negated, True non-negation is manifest. Thus, the realization of that itself, Does not take everything as things. Through that, that is realized, Not non-empty, not existent nor non-existent, Not unborn, not born, Actions and so on, the Bhagavan said. This is the work of meditation. If the secret words are contemplated, The complete fruit will be obtained, Not just by desire. For the yoga of each word, While directing towards manifestation, Reciting this evil mantra, With the sound of the word for each word, It shows what is not to be done. This mantra without yoga, Will not give fruit in that way. The mantra word is the mantra, Therefore, do not be without yoga. With the meaning of the sutra, one enters the clear light, reciting Om(藏文:ཨོཾ,梵文天城体:ओम्,梵文罗马拟音:oṃ,汉语字面意思:嗡) Shunyata(藏文:ཤཱུ་ནྱ་ཏཱ,梵文天城体:शून्यता,梵文罗马拟音:śūnyatā,汉语字面意思:空性). From the essence of clear light, the Vajra Holder enters into equipoise, and for the yoga of union, one should be endowed with skillful means. The union of the generation stage, and likewise the completion stage, in whom these two become one, that is union.
