Without. Only in name do we observe as consciousness. Even name is without inherent existence. Is it within, or like that, outside? Or even in the space between the two? The Victors have not found the mind. Therefore, the mind is of the nature of illusion. The distinctions of color and shape, Or the grasped and the grasper, Or male, female, or neuter, etc. The essence of mind is not abiding. In short, the Buddhas, Have not seen, nor will they see. With the nature of no inherent existence, How could they see? "Thing" is a conceptual thought, Without conceptual thought is emptiness. Wherever conceptual thought appears, How could emptiness be there? The mind of the object of thought and the subject of thought, The Thus-Gone Ones have not seen. Wherever there is an object of thought and a subject of thought, There is no enlightenment there. Without characteristics and without birth, Not existent, beyond the path of speech. Space and the mind of enlightenment, Enlightenment are of the nature of non-duality. Dwelling in the essence of enlightenment, The Great Self Buddha, All loving ones, at all times, Know emptiness to be like space. Therefore, the basis of all phenomena, Peaceful and like illusion, Emptiness, which destroys the basisless existence, This emptiness should always be meditated upon. Unborn and emptiness, And called selflessness, is emptiness. Whoever meditates on a lower self, That is not meditating on that. The stream of conceptual thoughts of virtue and non-virtue, Is of the nature of cessation. Emptiness is what the Buddha spoke, others, They do not accept emptiness. The abiding of the mind without an object, Is the nature of space. Those who meditate on emptiness, Accept it as meditating on space. Emptiness, with the sound of a lion's roar, Makes all speech terrified. Wherever and wherever they dwell, There and there it is emptiness. Whatever Consciousness, momentary, That of that is not permanent. If the mind is impermanent, How does it contradict emptiness? In short, the Buddhas, If they accept the mind as impermanent, Why do they not accept that mind as emptiness? From the very beginning, the mind's Nature is always non-existent. A thing established by its own nature, Does not speak of the nature of non-existence. Thus it is said.

If one speaks of the mind, it has abandoned the place of the self. Transcending its own nature, those dharmas are not dharmas. Just as the sweetness of sugarcane, like the heat of the nature of fire, so too, the nature of all dharmas is regarded as emptiness. Because emptiness is spoken of as nature, one does not speak of any annihilation. Nor has he ever said that anything is permanent. From ignorance to old age and death, the ultimate twelve branches, the actions that arise in dependence, I regard as like dreams and illusions. This wheel of twelve branches is the cycle of existence on the path of becoming. Other than that, there are no sentient beings who desire to experience the fruits of karma. Just as, relying on a mirror, the circle of the face appears, it does not move there, and without it, it does not exist. Likewise, the aggregates themselves connect, and birth in another existence, without transference, is what the wise should always determine. In short, in empty dharmas, empty dharmas arise. The actor, the fruits of karma, and the enjoyer, the Victorious One taught in conventional truth. Like the sound of a drum, so too, sprouts are produced by a collection of causes. External dependent arising is regarded as similar to dreams and illusions. The arising of dharmas from causes never contradicts, because the cause is empty of its own nature, therefore it is understood to be unborn. The birth of dharmas is non-existent, and it is well explained as emptiness. In short, the five aggregates are said to be all dharmas. By explaining it as it is, the stream of conventional truth is not cut off. Different from conventional truth, it is not an object of focus, conventional truth is said to be emptiness, emptiness is precisely conventional truth. Because it is certain that without it, it does not arise, what is made and impermanent are also like that. Conventional truth arises from afflictions, karma arises from the mind, the mind is accumulated by habits, without habits there is happiness, the happy mind is precisely peace, the peaceful mind is not deluded, non-delusion is precisely realization, by realizing that one obtains liberation. Likewise, suchness and the ultimate truth, signlessness and ultimate meaning, the supreme Bodhicitta, and also emptiness are taught.
