Just as cities and the like are seen, Likewise, forms and the like appear. To reverse the clinging to self, The aggregates, elements, and so forth are taught. Dwelling in the Mind-Only, even that Is abandoned by those of great fortune. To those who speak of consciousness, These various things are established as mind. If asked, what is the nature of consciousness? Now, that itself shall be explained. That all these are Mind-Only, Whatever the Sage taught, Is to dispel the fear of children, It is not the reality itself. The imputed, the dependent, And the thoroughly established, This itself is the nature of emptiness, the only one, Its essence is the imputation of mind. For those who delight in the Great Vehicle, The selflessness of phenomena is equality itself. Mind is primordially unborn, The Buddha has spoken concisely. The practitioners of Yoga, Having mastered their own minds, Having transformed the basis, the pure mind, Is said to be the object of individual self-awareness. Whatever is past is gone, Whatever is future is not yet obtained. Since the basis is transformed by abiding, Where is the present? How it is, it does not appear that way, How it appears, it is not that way. Consciousness is the nature of selflessness, There is no other dependent consciousness. Just as near a magnet, Iron quickly revolves. There is no mind there, But it is associated with mind and appears. Likewise, the alaya-consciousness, Not true, but as if true, Whenever it moves and changes, Then it grasps existence. Like the ocean and trees, Though there is no mind, they move. Likewise, the alaya-consciousness, It moves by relying on the body. If there is no body, then consciousness, If it is thoroughly conceived as non-existent, Then its individual self-awareness, How can it be described? By describing individual self-awareness, It is said to be a real entity. Saying this is that, It is also said to be impossible. In order to generate certainty in oneself, and in others, For the sake of generating certainty, Always without confusion, The wise ones diligently enter. Knowing knows the knowable, Without the knowable, there is no knowing. Thus, the knowable and The knower, why not wish to say they are non-existent? Mind is merely a name, Other than the name, there is nothing
