Knowing the minds of various afflictions and near afflictions of beings with certain dispositions, the Dharma is taught, just as a doctor gives medicine to a patient that is suitable for the illness. Therefore, sons of good family, the vows of the Tathagata are five, which are the paths of non-virtuous actions such as killing. The words of their emptiness. It must be said that the nature of non-substantiality should be known as the essence of luminosity. For example, the things to be accomplished by the path of the five vows, and whatever accomplishes them, will dissolve into luminosity. What is called the vow is the essence of meditation, what is to be accomplished is meditation, and what accomplishes is the meditator, all of which abide in the nature of luminosity. For those who have entered the vehicle of non-substantiality, because there is no killer and no killed, no robber and no robbed, no desirer and no desired, etc., all things are seen as illusory. As the Blessed Mother said, "As an illusionist sees a city conjured by an illusion, so are forms seen by beings conjured by karma." Other scriptures also say, "Fierce, approaching wisdom is not desired even for an instant, there is no killed and no killer, what need is there to say about this principle?" etc. After revealing the connection of its essence, in order to reveal that all dharmas are without self-nature through the connection arising from it, "Thus" etc. is said. The lower wood is the lower wood for drilling fire. The upper wood is the upper wood for drilling fire. The movement of a person's hand is the method of generating fire, relying on these three, fire will arise. If the fire itself is analyzed, it is seen that it does not arise from anywhere. For example, the fire does not abide in the lower wood, because it cannot arise from it without the upper wood. Likewise, it does not abide in the upper wood, because it does not exist without the lower wood. If the lower wood does not exist, then the movement of a person's hand cannot generate fire, because it does not exist in the person's hand either.
