The absence of inherent existence is temporarily established by valid cognition. For example, whatever arises from dependent origination is devoid of inherent existence, like wool cloth. Mantras and the like arise from the effort of teeth, lips, and so on. Therefore, it is emptiness, which is the reason for inherent existence. Thus, for the time being, the nature of sound, the mantra, is momentary, so it is non-existent, but the nature of mere sound exists. As it is said: "Arising from the wind of space and from the body, correctly spoken, sound goes forth from the mouth, places are completely separated from others, becoming pleasing letters, that is sound. The letter is the supreme purifier of Brahma, dwelling in the cave, the Brahmin correctly speaks. That is completely combined, definitely good, manifestly high, combining with the person." So it is said. Similarly, in the Tantra of Glorious Vajra Beneath the Earth, it is also said: "Letters, vowels, and sounds, sound, clamor, resonance, melodious sound, speech, stacking and the edge of sound, dot and stress, sound is of ten characteristics. Secret place, lips, palate, teeth, etc., closely aimed by differentiation, clear letters are the object of words, that is said to be letters. With sixfold and other vowel distinctions, those who speak of Brahma proclaim. Brahma and others in the world, vowels exist in seven ways. Whatever treatises on sound, voice, intonation, symbols, and words, etc., the nature of names arises, sound exists in all. Sound is at any edge, vowels are pleasant to hear, as the mind is joyful, that is called clamor. Musical instruments, birds, and people, whatever arises from the assembly, without distinction and clear, that is called resonance.

It bestows. Thus, it arises from the place of the edge of sound. The wise realize it as such. The profound and pleasing sound of that which has become the object, like a bee inside a vase, arises very subtly. It is characterized by the touch of mind-only. That is called the fierce power of speech. By this, all this is pervaded, like ghee, sesame, and so on. It is without doubt and unspeakable, abandoning sounds and what is to be clarified, including inside and outside, it is constant. That is said to be the supreme Brahma. By the knowledge called, it is to be understood and explained that the tenth one with the nature of the edge of sound exists. Whoever has the nature of the edge of sound, the sound should be meditated upon, which is realization. That is also not meditation, because it does not truly exist. As previously stated, the coarse sound does not exist, therefore the edge of sound that is the object within it will also not be accomplished. Because the result follows the cause. Because sound and all edges of sound have wind moving, they are one. Wind is also not one, because there are ten kinds of distinctions. Like the former, because it is impermanent, it is the vehicle of consciousness, like consciousness, it is momentary, therefore its nature is not established. Therefore, mantras of just the edge of sound should not be meditated upon. Then how should a yogi attain accomplishment? Thus, with the real and the unreal. It says. Thus, with the reason previously stated, meditating on the three letters is the meditation of going and coming, if it is not an object, then at that time the state of the great Vajradhara is attained. It is about the extreme of the recitation of the impotent.

The speech that accomplishes the work is related. Separated from all things. And so on. All things are the alaya consciousness, the afflicted mind consciousness, and the entering consciousness, these three. They are also ignorance, means, wisdom, female, male, hermaphrodite, time, night, day, appearance, increasing appearance, near attainment of appearance, left, right, center, soft, sharp, intermediate, lotus, vajra, moon, sun, following sound, and the empty nature of both dot and accent, separation from these is emptiness of all. Furthermore, since they reside in body, speech, and mind, things are three letters. They are not things, because the nature of color and shape and gods, etc., is not Suchness, recitation is the nature of investigation. Or, things are the characteristics of entering, etc., they are also the ultimate nature of sound, and because they are impermanent, no thing is not Suchness. How is accomplishment achieved? Meditations are not attached. What does that mean? Aggregates and elements, and what is grasped and what grasps are knowledge and what is to be known, abandoning the one hundred and sixty natures that are the cause of them. Here also ༄། །This is the order, in order to purify the mind completely, there are four things: appearance, increasing appearance, near attainment of appearance, and luminosity, the first three are to be abandoned, and the fourth is to be obtained, it is the result. Among these things there are also four kinds of distinctions such as small: first, appearance is small appearance, medium appearance, large appearance, and great appearance of great. Similarly, there are sixteen moments from small increasing appearance to great luminosity of great. Similarly, there is small of small appearance, medium of small appearance, large of small appearance, and large appearance. Thus, from medium and so on to luminosity there are sixty-four moments, with the distinction of day and night, there are one hundred and twenty moments.
