When explaining the five topics, it is necessary to explain them because without them, the listeners cannot enter. These are: the speaker, the subject matter, the connection, the purpose, and the purpose of the purpose. As it is said: All treatises, whether tantras or any other kind, without a speaker, this world would become like a mute and a blind person. Because there is no subject matter, the treatise becomes meaningless, like the tenth chapter and so on. Just as in order for the listeners to be able to enter, the connection needs to be explained, therefore in all treatises, the connection should be explained first. Here, the speaker is the glorious Guhyasamaja. The subject matter is the Bhagavan Great Vajradhara and his mandala, complete in the order of eighteen chapters. Or, initially, the three samadhis of the classification of union and so on, the two stages, or the single complete stage as the main one, that is, the five stages or the six meanings that abide by the classification of nature and so on. Because there is no subject matter, the treatise becomes meaningless, like the tenth chapter and so on. Similarly, in order for the listeners to be able to enter, the connection needs to be explained, therefore in all treatises, the connection should be explained first. Thus, the characteristics of the method and what arises from the method, or the characteristics of the speaker and the subject matter, the connection between sound and meaning are explained. Even if there is no ultimate connection between sound and meaning, the artificial connection exists, because in conceptual thought, most of the time, distinctions are made. This connection is also of six kinds: Tathagata, goddess, Bodhisattva, deva, asura, and human. Among them, it is impossible to explain the ultimate nature of the Bhagavan Great Vajradhara as having form, because connected with this ༄། །, it would become impermanent like a person on a great road. Because it is seen that things with form are destroyed. If it does not have form, it would be like a rabbit's horn, because one cannot observe something that does not exist at all, so there is no intimacy, and it would be like a mute and a blind person.

It would be absurd to be liberated without a lama and a disciple, just as it is impossible to pinpoint an action for something that does not exist. Therefore, how should one abide here? The answer is that the Bhagavan Vajradhara is both with form and without form. If so, wouldn't contradictory dharmas exist, like shade and sunlight? It is not so, because the Bhagavan arises as one from the clear light, and emanates forms to guide sentient beings, like Indra's bow. However, it is not compounded, because it lacks the characteristics of compounded things such as birth, aging, and impermanence. It is the very embodiment of wisdom and is indivisible like a vajra. Therefore, it is reasonable that the Bhagavan is with form. The Bhagavan is also without form because when abiding in the clear light, male, female, and hermaphrodite, through the meditation of yoga, the aggregates, elements, and sense bases are all burned by the fire of emptiness. As it is said: Like clothes, things have many different forms, but when burned by the fire of emptiness, there is no distinction in the ashes. Therefore, it is also without form. It is not contradictory because it relies on different functions. The Bhagavan Vajradhara, in this way, from the seed-syllable of his own heart, or from the order of the mandala of his inner nature, emanates the five Tathagatas, and the suchness that he teaches to them is the connection of the Tathagatas. The Bhagavan himself, in order to purify sentient beings of the desire realm, emanates four goddesses from his own seed-syllable, and the suchness of the Dharma that he speaks to them is the connection of the goddesses, such as the tantra of the Four Goddesses' Inquiries. Therefore, only the great Vajradhara appears in female form for the sake of taming beings, because in suchness there is no distinction between male and female, and without form, it is indivisible like space. Relying on the Vajra Essence and other tantras, whatever suchness is taught in the tantras of glorious Hevajra and others
