It is said that pacifying actions should be done in the east, increasing actions in the south, subjugating actions should be done in the west, and destroying actions should be done in the north. Explaining the method of repelling external enemies is as follows: That is for actions such as pacifying, one should understand the mind as peaceful. The vast ocean scorched by the sun, cold inside like snow and hot outside, the wrathful form of great compassion, in that way, protect beings with this method. In accordance with such actions and their results, one should wear different kinds of clothes. That is the action of the practitioner. Then, generate the pride of one's own deity, and having made the form in accordance with the actions and their results as previously described, with four faces, and the secret mantras of body, speech, and mind, as well as the clarifying ra ksha ra ksha (རཀྵ་རཀྵ་, रक्षा रक्षा, raksha raksha, protect protect), and the three Hūṃs and Phat should be recited. From that secret mantra, emanate wrathful deities and so forth, and having burned all the hosts of obstacles, imagine scattering the ashes and the obstacles in the ten directions. Similarly, one should also perform postures such as extending the right leg. In that way, with a stake, a vajra net, and a fence, etc., make the surroundings of the hearth free from obstacles.
