To the lama who reveals the path, with great joy, I prostrate with body, speech, and mind. If the supreme path is attained solely through the kindness of the lama, then praising the lama alone would suffice. Why then speak of the sixth limb, the supreme limb? Answer: Thus and so forth. Speaking of the qualities of the lama who reveals the path is merely speaking of one's own realization. For just as without a burning fire, it is impossible to clearly see the arising of smoke. However, if one thinks that realizing the path of suchness, the cause of pacifying pride, is to recognize "I am suchness" and thus give rise to pride, is that reasonable? Answer: Words of realization and so forth. The pride of my realization will not become a fault, for it is the cause of leading those who desire liberation to enter, and not for the sake of gain and so forth. For the teacher does not lead beings into uncertain things in order to accomplish their desired goals. Now, I will explain the origin of the tantra: Because the commentaries made by ordinary beings cause those mantra practitioners who consider themselves to have realized the definitive meaning of all the tantras to be confused on the path due to not knowing the distinction between conventional and ultimate truth. For example, thinking "The aggregate of form is Vairochana," and so forth, they explain the emptiness of the aggregate of form with the words of Vairochana, but do not understand the negation of form. In order to realize that very suchness, by the command of glorious Vajradhara, the King of Shambhala, an emanation of the Bodhisattva Mahasattva Manjushri, spoke the Kalachakra Tantra Subsequent through the means of compilation. The teacher of this tantra, the compiler, and the one who requested the meaning was King Moon Good, an emanation of Vajrapani. Therefore, this is speaking of the greatness of the tantra. For this tantra, the emanation of the Lord of the World, White Lotus, composed the commentary called "Stainless Light," which clarifies all meanings. Through what it clarifies, by the excellence of the path of the vow of the precious Buddha, those who have accumulated merit obtain it from the lama, and with this, they reveal the meaning of nectar, illuminating existence with the nectar of the four joys, enjoying unceasing bliss. This is speaking of the greatness of the speaker. Again, the praise of the King of Tantras is spoken, that is, "Where" and so forth. Of what is to be known.
