It is because it becomes one in the Dharmadhatu. What is it like? It is like a water tree, because there is neither purity nor impurity. How should it be grasped? It should be grasped in one's own mind. Thus, after equally showing what should be abandoned and the antidote, now, in order to equally show emptiness and non-emptiness, one should not only practice emptiness. Nor should one only practice non-empty objects. That is, showing that taking and abandoning are equal, that is, emptiness should not be abandoned, because there is no subject, so the nature of reality alone should not be abandoned either. If one does not abandon non-emptiness? One also abandons the non-empty nature of objects. If one grasps emptiness and non-emptiness as taking and abandoning, what fault will occur? Extraordinary conceptualizations will arise. Thus it is said, many conceptualizations such as permanence and annihilation will not arise. If one abandons both of them as in the Middle Way without abiding, what fault will there be? Like abandoning, etc., therefore one should abandon both of them. Thus it is said, one should abandon both taking and abandoning. What is the result of that? The two kinds of grasping are completely abandoned, it is the place of complete purity and liberation. Thus it is said, it is the place of liberation of emptiness where the two obscurations are completely purified and luminous. That is, it shows liberation from the extremes of purity and impurity, that is, self-grasping is conceptualization. Thus it is said, one should abandon 'I am pure' and 'I am impure'. Why? Because there is no change, thus it is said, because the Dharmadhatu has neither defilement nor absence of defilement, so there is no change, and one does not even have the doubt of being stained by defilement oneself. Because of that reason, there is no desire for the pure place. Thus it is said, because there is no impurity, so desire for purity will not arise. Now it shows being free from the extremes of beginning and end, the beginning is the beginning of samsara. The end is nirvana without remainder, because there are no remaining aggregates. Yogis should meditate on liberation like the sky, which is free from those two extremes. Now, those with compassion who are free from the extremes of existence and non-existence should not turn their backs on the benefit of sentient beings, like illusory

Are sentient beings like the wise? Or, bestow the oral instructions of asserting non-existence and empowerment, because they are no different from illusion. Thus, since it is free from the four or sixteen elaborations, the nature of the mind's luminosity is called wisdom. Having explained the nature of wisdom in this way, now I will explain the nature of means. Like a wish-fulfilling jewel, it benefits sentient beings. It is said that since the mind's self-awareness is luminous, sentient beings appear according to their devotion, so it benefits sentient beings. The great compassion that accomplishes everything without exception means that all containers and contents are appearances of the mind's luminosity, so it is called accomplishing everything without exception. That itself is compassion because it is free from the suffering of illusion. Moreover, since it focuses on the realm of reality, it is compassion without focus. Since it has become the field of activity of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, It is called the state without focus. Having shown the nature of means in this way, now I will show the nature of union. Thus, among the three meditations, the first meditation has five characteristics: the characteristic of union, the characteristic of the manifest path, the characteristic of qualities, the characteristic of suddenness, and the characteristic of being free from suddenness. Among them, the characteristic of union is said to be that of becoming one with intelligence. Intelligence, awareness, and wisdom-awareness are of one taste. What is the example? It is said, "Just like space and the nature of space." Space and the nature of space, apart from abandoning and not abandoning other differences, there is not even a hair's breadth of substance. If there is no difference, how does one meditate? The meditator is also self-awareness, the object of meditation is also self-awareness, and meditation is also the nature of self-awareness. Therefore, there is no seer, seeing, eye that sees, or object to be seen. Therefore, undifferentiated awareness is called spontaneous meditation. Now I will show the union of action and agent. Liberation from the action and agent of the Hearers and the food and eater of the Tirthikas is to be truly meditated upon in the ultimate truth. Now, the object to be accomplished and the means of accomplishment
