How is liberation through earth achieved? The root text states: 'Revering the Lama, the means lineage.' This means that whoever generates the mind of unsurpassed Bodhi, possesses faith and diligence, enters the mandala and properly receives the four empowerments, and protects the vows without regard for body or life, by constantly revering the Lama, they receive the instructions and realize them. Therefore, they are called fortunate. 'The last is a subtle form,' which means that non-Buddhists and those of lower vehicles cannot realize it. 'The supreme object itself' means those with sharp faculties, who have tamed their minds with great compassion, and who realize the ultimate truth without error through great wisdom—this is the meaning of 'supreme.' 'The middle is neither small nor large.' Ordinary beings, etc., whose six senses are distracted by the six objects, are called 'other.' 'Equal and similar actions are,' regarding this, 'non-duality is equality,' 'becoming harmonious is similarity.' Thus, combining equality and similarity in action is called 'action.' Constantly indicating that is meditating on taste. Thus, the absence of equality and similarity is also used in meaning, and expressing it in words is expressing the incomparable. Such a wheel is said to be the taste of the mantra practitioner's mandala. The rest is easy to understand. Desire, hatred, jealousy, ignorance, and pride are also like that. All of these, even a sixteenth part of them, do not suffice for that supreme one. This means that, for example, the sixteenth part of the moon is very small and cannot be understood by ordinary people. Similarly, that supreme one, that ultimate joy, even a sixteenth part of it does not suffice for suchness. Or, all the enjoyments of the gods, such as desire for Maheshvara (महेश्वर,Maheśvara,Great Lord), hatred for Vishnu (विष्णु,Vishnu,All-pervading), ignorance for Brahma (ब्रह्म,Brahmā,Creator), and jealousy for the Asuras, do not suffice even a sixteenth part for that supreme one, that great bliss—this is the meaning to be understood. Other and further things should also be combined here accordingly. Its meaning actually arises from the Dharmadhatu, therefore it arises from the Dharmadhatu. Its truth is equal to space, therefore it possesses means. The rest is coded language.

It is not written in detail because it is easy to understand. "All the tenets of the science" refers to all the achievements of the worldly path. "Substances, etc." means to understand by this and by actions, that is, by actions such as fire offerings and torma. "By these, existence revolves," that is what it means. "Whoever does not know Hevajra" refers to the former two. This is the meaning of "that itself is meaningless." Explanation of the eighth chapter is completed. Ninth Chapter, Explanation of the Chapter on Purification. Now, let us explain the meaning of the ninth chapter, which is, "From where the world is bound, from that place, liberation from that bondage." "From where is bound" refers to being bound by afflictions such as desire. "Liberation from the bondage of that place" is like poison that cannot be subdued by medicine and mantras will be killed, but that which can be subdued will become nectar. If one does not understand the nature of desire, etc., as wisdom, then the Shravakas, etc., will be bound, but the yogi who understands this will attain accomplishment, so it is called liberation. As it is said in the Yoga Tantra called "Glorious First": "Desire, hatred, and ignorance, clinging to them becomes poison. If the poison is pacified, the poison becomes non-poison. If one gradually cultivates nectar, it becomes nectar." Also, as it is said in the Maha Yoga Tantra called "Taming Accomplishment with Meaning": "Whoever is a fool becomes bound, that wise one is completely liberated, if one meditates on the aspect of Bodhi, then all these are reversed. Whoever becomes bound by ignorance, calling to the end, that also changes, that itself is liberated by this." Therefore, understanding the purification of afflictions is the meaning of liberation. "The world is ignorant, that itself is not known" refers to ordinary beings, non-Buddhists, and Buddhist non-Buddhists not understanding, that is the meaning of ignorance. Those mentioned above have not obtained the oral instructions of great bliss, so it is called abandonment. Like this, if one does not obtain the guru's oral instructions and does not understand the meaning of it, one will not attain accomplishment. Because of that reason, it is form.
