Because it is the main cause, it is said that co-emergence is complete enlightenment. Now, in order to clearly show the co-emergence that has been taught again, it is said, "Represented by the first joy-separation," and so on. If asked, is the so-called first joy-separation the ultimate joy? In order to show that it is not, it is said, "Abandon the three joys," implying that it refers to after the ultimate joy. That is, as stated in the third chapter: "The self-nature of co-emergent joy, the ultimate end joy-separation is the first." This is one explanation. To represent the first joy-separation refers to the third empowerment, and so on. To represent means how to understand it. What is the difference? It is said, "Abandon the three joys," that is, abandon joy, ultimate joy, and joy-separation, because this is the nature that is separate from characteristics, so the nature is different. Having thus correctly represented it, cultivate co-emergence with the oral instructions, and the samadhi that arises from it is like a cloud, like an illusion, like a dream, like awakening from a dream. The so-called first refers to the time of habituation. How is it like a cloud? Like a new moon covered by a thin cloud, it is not clear. How is it like an illusion? When it manifests, it is definitely nourished by the great bliss taste called accomplishment, and beings appear like an illusion. The so-called after refers to being like a dream after that. How is it like a dream? Because there is no clinging to self and other. Then it is like a dream and awakening, because there is no difference between the state of awakening and dreaming, so it is constantly and equally abiding. How does the yogi achieve complete accomplishment of the four samadhis in this way? It is said, "Non-discriminating characteristics are not accomplished," and so on. Because there is no distinction between form and so on, it is non-discriminating. What is it like to be non-discriminating? Because the characteristics are not accomplished, there is no distinction. Therefore, it symbolizes

That itself is the nature. That is not established because all things, by the very nature of great bliss, have been made without nature. It is called Mudra Yoga. It is the yoga of the great Mudra. It means 'that which will be accomplished'. The term 'itself' refers to the accomplishment of such a great Mudra, which will not arise without empowerment, so empowerment should be given. Therefore, the 'teacher' Vajradhara spoke of the mandala for that purpose. 'Truly blazing' means adorned with various jewels. 'Various whisks' means having whisks with various ornaments. 'The neck covered with cloth' means the neck bound with a silk scarf. The five jewels are coral, pearl, cat's eye, gold, and silver. 'To place' means that which should be placed. 'Lord of the Mandala' and so on, refers to the previously mentioned practice. 'Where' means before the purification of the ground. 'The mantra beginning with A' refers to अकारोमुखंसर्वधर्माणामाद्यनुत्पन्नत्वात् (Tibetan, Devanagari: अकारोमुखंसर्वधर्माणामाद्यनुत्पन्नत्वात्, Romanized Sanskrit: akāro mukhaṃ sarva dharmāṇām ādyanutpannatvāt, Literal meaning: A is the beginning of all dharmas, unborn). 'Offering and prayer' refers to the lama. 'As it is said' refers to the Samgraha-satya and so on. Vajrasattva refers to the joyful Vajra. 'After' means after the empowerment. 'Pure' means the purification of the faults of samsara. 'Wisdom embodied' means equal to the omniscient wisdom. 'Samsara and purification' means that for wisdom, samsara and nirvana have no difference whatsoever, which means superior, implying far beyond all elaboration. This itself is 'Supreme Joy' and so on, which will be clearly shown by two verses. Supreme Joy refers to the most supreme wisdom, the wisdom with the nature of luminosity. 'There is no meditation' means there is nothing to be meditated upon. The meditator is the mind, but that is also not there. The body is the body. The object to be grasped is the object that will appear. The grasper is the eye and so on. Similarly, flesh and blood and so on.

And also non-existent. Thus, having established that the obscuration of afflictions does not exist, in order to show that the obscuration of knowledge also does not exist, it is said "no seeing" etc., meaning that external objects such as those to be seen also do not exist. As for "without waves" etc., waves are discriminations. That which has ceased is without waves. "Various" means appearing in various ways. That which is without that is without variousness. "Thus it is said" means thus it was spoken by the Bhagavan. "Petition" means it will be requested by Vajra Heart. What was requested? He spoke of "why" etc. The intention is this: Why does this body, which is naturally completely pure in its co-emergent essence, become a result similar to the cause of becoming the nature of the five defiled elements? With this reasoning, all sentient beings will also transform into the form of Vajradhara who arose from luminosity, because it is produced by co-emergence. This is the intention. The Bhagavan said, if this mundane thing is only bliss, how can it be called co-emergent? Because the nature of similarity and cause also exists, therefore he spoke of Vajra Lotus etc., when touched, the hardness itself is dharma. Dharma is earth. Bodhicitta is semen, because it is of the nature of moisture. Movement is fire. The movement of semen is wind. Its bliss is the realm of space, because it is of the nature of non-appearance. If the nature of the five aggregates is definitely so, why would it not become the nature of non-defilement since it is produced by great bliss? Therefore, he said "that bliss itself" etc., that which is produced by Vajra and Lotus in conventionality is neither Suchness nor the ultimate co-emergent. Why? Because he said "because the great elements produce bliss." Because it produces the great elements.
