, therefore, because it is in a very calm state. Even such a place as the heavy earth, though given to the powerful Vishnu, its result is suffering, because it is bound in an underground prison, it has obtained the state of being bound in suffering. It has obtained and is experiencing the state of being destroyed by afflictions and suffering. The special thing here is that even offering a little bit of earth to the Sakyamuni Buddha, one can become known as King Ashoka. That is because when the Blessed One went to Rajagriha for alms, a boy named Jaya Kumara, as soon as he saw him, became very devoted and offered a handful of dirt from the street sweeper. The Blessed One prophesied, "A hundred years after my complete Nirvana, this boy will become a powerful Chakravartin king named Ashoka. Because Jaya Kumara rejoiced, his best minister will become known as Kashtavahana." What kind of land did he obtain? He obtained all the land covered by the light of the full moon mandala. That is also good, that is, obtaining land without untimely death, famine, plague, and other disasters. Therefore, this shows that these two become merit due to the difference between field and non-field. If someone thinks, "You are saying this because of partiality," that is why "Therefore I" and so on are said. I am neither without reason, nor taking fault as a reason to be partial to Buddhism, nor do I hate and want to harm the Samkhya sage Kapila and other heretical teachers. Because one should be universally and equally like the sun without reason, therefore, whoever's words are reasonable and can be measured by valid cognition, he should be completely accepted as a teacher, and the holy ones should take refuge in him. All of this world is not a worthy refuge, because it is not free from desire, ༄། །because it is universally served by the rakshasas of affliction.

Those with discernment desire that the house possessed by Brahma's demon is like an empty shell. Therefore, it is said, "like this" and so on. Among these four, certainly some will become omniscient, but not all will reach the ultimate state. Just as the sun among luminous objects, the ocean among small lakes, Mount Meru among mountains, so is the omniscient one particularly distinguished among those with intelligence. Others do not know all knowable things. Similarly, his teachings uniquely benefit beings, and the system of teachings is extremely vast. Therefore, whoever closely proclaims the eighty-four thousand collections of teachings and so forth should be sought by those with intelligence. With what kind of intelligence? One should seek with the eye of subtle intelligence. For intelligence itself is the eye that sees subtle things. One should seek, examine, and rely on it. But what is the use of relying on and taking as a teacher those who are not omniscient, are skilled at creating confusion, and cause harm to sentient beings? What need is there? There is no need for benefit, that is the meaning. So, by relying on whom will all needs be accomplished? Therefore, it is said here, "relying on whom" and so on. If the teacher does not have all the faults of afflictions, including habitual tendencies, and fully possesses all the qualities of discipline and meditation, etc., in every way, then he is my teacher, and he alone is the refuge of all beings, not others. I do not say this because I cannot bear mere names, otherwise there would be a fault in meaning. He proclaims this: If the Great Lord and Vishnu have the faults as mentioned above, therefore they are not teachers, then it is reasonable to say that Brahma has no faults at all, therefore he should be the teacher of all lands. Or, if he has any faults, please speak of them. That can be said.

English

It should not be said like that. If they are not truly free from the desire of the desire realm, how can it be said that they have no faults at all? They have hundreds and thousands of faults. It is said that these two gods and Brahma are the same. When the goddess Uma was taken as a wife, while parading around the city, Brahma, upon seeing her excellent appearance, became distraught and fainted, and ejaculated. It is said that out of shame, she rubbed it with her feet, resulting in it splitting into hundreds and thousands of pieces, from which were born eighty thousand sages called "Love of Children." It is also said that Brahma bestowed blessings, but the two brothers Sunda and Upasunda caused great harm to the three realms. In order to kill them, all the gods collected the radiance of their own bodies and created a woman called "Supreme Bindu." When she paid homage to Brahma, Brahma, out of lust for her, manifested four faces, each facing a different direction. It is said that the Great God cut off her head on the top. Such as these, many licentious behaviors have been spoken of. Furthermore, from the suffix of this god's name, other faults also arise. Moreover, they also proclaim, "You are all created by me," which in itself is a heresy. It is said that there are many faults in these words. However, there is not a single stain of fault in the teachings of the Bhagavan. That is: Able to liberate the faithful from poverty, But unable to do so while alive, Saying that liberation can only be done after death, What that god says is a false word. Fire cannot be burned by touch, What is said that it will be burned by remembering, If that word is true, Then these two should also be like that. The Bhagavan is not like that, Does not speak of the lord of karma. Like the sun illuminating the earth, Clearly reveals the nature of beings. Does not enjoy the fruits of non-worldly karma, Accumulates karma with one's own afflictions, Good and non-good, desire and non-desire, Like a seed that produces fruit. Completely knowing all dharmas, All faults are exhausted, Benefiting all sentient beings, They are all Tathagatas. Etc., the above has been said. This meaning.
