It is in order to widely proclaim. The reason for saying "to whom" etc. is that "immeasurable" means limitless. The so-called "compassionate one" means possessing great compassion, that is, constantly observing the entire world with pure divine eyes. As it is said, the Buddha observes the world three times during the day and three times during the night with the Buddha's eyes. Therefore, with great compassion, he delivers beings from suffering, and is the supreme protector and refuge, so we take refuge and rely on him, this is the meaning. In order to completely dedicate this praise, "lotus" etc. are mentioned. Because the Buddha, the Bhagavan, possesses excellent qualities of form, it is said that like an open blue lotus, with spreading petals, possessing long and beautiful eyes, is called "that." Because he is the supreme of the senses of the form body, only the characteristics of the eyes are slightly indicated. Not only that, but he is also the place of all virtues. Just as the support and place where countless rivers flow is the ocean, the place and basis where hundreds and thousands of rivers of praise of virtues arise is the Bhagavan. To such a one who has become the object of praise, praise and extol in this way, from the words of praise, whatever little root of virtue I have created and accumulated, with this root of virtue, may all beings be endowed with unsurpassed happiness, this is the meaning of what is said. Here, the so-called "definite good" refers to happiness without fault, and the meaning that all beings may have happiness. To the protector, to the most excellent among the gods, the praise I have composed, with the merit accumulated from this, may I attain Nirvana. The extensive explanation of the praise to the most excellent among the gods, written by the teacher Jñānāvarman, is completed here. Translated and finalized by the Indian Abbot Jāranadāna and the reviser translator Bhikshu Rinchen Zangpo (Rinchen Zangpo, 958-1055).
