Here, the term of name is an extremely noble and reasonable adornment. As it is said in the Vajra Essence Ornament Tantra: "Like a lamp inside a vase, it cannot shine outwards. If the vase is broken, the lamp below will shine. Likewise, one's own body is like a vase. When it is well broken by the mouth of the guru, it is shown as the union itself, like a lamp. Abiding in that union." And so on. Although this source can be explained as a treatise, other than the way of teaching by the Panditas of Vikramashila Monastery, the Panditas of Nalanda Monastery explain all the teachings with five perfections and all the treatises with five numerical beginnings. Therefore, the first is the perfection of the beginning, where the previous three-body teachers and virtuous friends, etc., are in a place, showing the assembly of retinue, and explaining how each of their speeches turns the wheel of Dharma. The latter is the meaning of the words of the Mind Section Instructions, etc., with five numerical beginnings. The first is, who is the author? It is Namkhai Jigme, born in this Dharma lineage, who has gained conviction in the truth of Dharma nature through inference alone, and who has received prophecies in experiences and dreams from the deity Padmakara and the mothers and dakinis. From which teachings was it compiled? It was compiled from the tantras of the Mind Section Instructions, etc., collecting all the ultimate meanings, gathering the scattered, harmonizing the confused, revealing the hidden, and making it a treatise for practice and realization. To which side does it belong? It belongs to the Great Vehicle among the two vehicles, the Great and Small. Among them, it is the latter of the two, Sutra and Tantra. Among them, it is the Old School among the two, the New and Old. Among its great scriptures, it belongs to the Mind Section, among the Anu of the seven Sutras, the Maha of the Eight Sections of the Magical Net, and the Great Perfection of the Mind Section of the twenty-one Mind Sections. What is the meaning summarized from beginning to end? It is the ultimate meaning of the Mind Section Instructions, etc., the very nature of the Self-Existing Tantra, the Three Manifestations of the Lamp. For what purpose is it made? It is for the future generations of those who have aspirations, connections, and the right time.

In order for individuals to understand and practice the reality of the Three Lamps of Clarity, and ultimately attain the perfect result. Furthermore, what are the four correct necessary connections? Again, it is what is taught by the meaning of the verses of the Mind Section, the Space Section, the Instructions, and so on. That is: the twenty-one tantras of the Mind Section; the vast and ten sections of the White, Black, and Variegated Space Section; the essence of all categories of the Outer, Inner, Secret, and Most Secret Bindu of the Instruction Section, the Heart (snying, Sanskrit: hṛdaya, Roman: hṛdaya, Chinese: heart) Essence (po, Sanskrit: sāra, Roman: sāra, Chinese: essence) Self-Nature Tantra, etc., the ultimate (mthar thug, Sanskrit: anta, Roman: anta, Chinese: ultimate) nature of the five. The meaning of the Three Lamps of Clarity is the object to be expressed. From these tantras, collecting the scattered, arranging the confused, and revealing the hidden, this treatise on practice, "The Ornament of the Clear Lamp," is the means of expression. Relying on the expression of the object and the means of expression, comprehending the three aspects of view, meditation, and conduct, so that the practitioner can understand and practice, this is the necessity. Understanding and practicing in this way, the ultimate result obtained is the Buddhahood that does not depend on great asceticism, the path is easy, and it is obtained quickly without taking a long time, this is the most important. Therefore, the object and the means of expression are related as the knowable and the knower; the necessity and the most necessity are related as the obtainable and the obtainer; the most necessity and the object are related as the same entity, therefore, it is explained in order to obtain understanding and realization through the perfect way of necessary explanation. Moreover, because the nature of reality (chos nyid, Sanskrit: dharmatā, Roman: dharmatā, Chinese: nature of reality) is not (mi, Sanskrit: na, Roman: na, Chinese: not) within the reach (khyab, Sanskrit: vyāpti, Roman: vyāpti, Chinese: reach) of thought (bsam gyis, Sanskrit: api, Roman: api, Chinese: also), and has not become the object of speech and conceptualization, it cannot be expressed even by the tongues of the Buddhas due to the profound seal of self-nature (rang bzhin, Sanskrit: svabhāva, Roman: svabhāva, Chinese: self-nature). Are those categories of tantras of the path that indicate this exactly in accordance with the words? Sealed with the seals of the six extremes of interpretable and uninterpretable, needing interpretation and not needing interpretation, and the four modes of word summary hidden ultimate, and for the three reasons of sealing extremely tightly with the seals of the bond of twisting, confusing, and hiding, it is difficult to fathom its depth, difficult to untie its vastness, difficult to contain in the mind, extremely stable, unparalleled, not becoming a source of contention, and because the view that indicates the ultimate reality, this vajra position, is the only one. With the exertion of intelligence and the practice of the path being inferior, the near-sighted ones
