The Blessed One said: Son of good family, because you, with great compassion, wish to benefit sentient beings and bring them happiness, you desire to explain the vidyā-mantra. Now the time has come, so speak quickly. The Tathāgata, myself, and all the Buddhas, the Blessed Ones, will also rejoice in it. The Bodhisattva Avalokiteśvara then said to the Blessed One: Blessed One, I clearly remember that in the past, countless hundreds of thousands of kalpas ago, at that time, there appeared in the world a Blessed One, a Tathāgata, named King of Light, Abiding in Peace. That Buddha, the Blessed One, out of love for me and all sentient beings, spoke this dhāraṇī called the Great, Unobstructed, Compassionate, Vastly Complete, and with his golden-colored hand, touched my head and said: Son of good family, hold this vidyā-mantra of great compassion, and it will bring benefit and great happiness to all sentient beings in the evil times to come. 一心一意地念诵我的名字并忆念我。此外，忆念我的导师如来无量光之后，接着如果一个晚上完整地念诵此陀罗尼咒七遍，那么在八万俱胝的劫中轮回的沉重罪业将会完全消除清净。世尊啊，也这样祈请道：世尊啊，任何天或人念诵并受持大悲（观世音菩萨）的语句，在临终的时候，十方如来都会降临此处伸出手，无论希望往生到哪个佛土，都会如其所愿地往生到那里。世尊啊，也这样祈请道：世尊啊，任何众生念诵并完全受持此大悲心咒，如果堕入三恶道，我将永远不成正觉。念诵并完全受持大悲心咒者，如果没有往生到诸佛刹土，我将永远不成正觉。念诵并完全受持大悲心咒者，如果没有获得无量无边的三摩地和辩才，我将永远不成正觉。念诵并完全受持大悲心咒者，如果今生所有的愿望都不能如愿实现，就不应称之为大悲心陀罗尼，除非是不行善业和不专心致志者。任何女子如果对女身感到厌倦，希望获得男身，那么念诵并受持此大悲心陀罗尼的语句，如果不能完全脱离女身，获得男身，我将永远不成正觉。如果产生丝毫的怀疑，那么所期望的果实将不会显现。

With one-pointed mind, recite my name and remember me. Furthermore, having remembered my teacher, the Tathagata Amitabha, then, if one recites this dharani mantra seven times completely in one night, then the heavy sins that cause one to wander in samsara for eighty trillion kalpas will be completely eliminated and purified. O Bhagavan, I also pray thus: O Bhagavan, if any god or human recites and holds the words of Great Compassion (Avalokiteśvara), at the time of death, the Tathagatas of the ten directions will come there and extend their hands, and they will be reborn in whichever Buddha-field they wish, just as they desire. O Bhagavan, I also pray thus: O Bhagavan, if any sentient being recites and completely holds this Great Compassion Wisdom Mantra, if they should fall into the three lower realms, may I never attain perfect enlightenment. If those who recite and completely hold the Great Compassion Wisdom Mantra do not get reborn in the Buddha-fields, may I never attain perfect enlightenment. If those who recite and completely hold the Great Compassion Wisdom Mantra do not obtain immeasurable samadhi and eloquence, may I never attain perfect enlightenment. If those who recite and completely hold the Great Compassion Wisdom Mantra do not have all their wishes fulfilled in this very life, just as they desire, then it should not be called the Great Compassion Mind Dharani, except for those who do not perform virtuous deeds and those who are not single-mindedly devoted. Any woman who is completely weary of the female body and wishes to obtain a male body, if she recites and holds this Great Compassion Mind Dharani, if she does not completely transform from the female form and obtain a male body, may I never attain perfect enlightenment. If even a slight doubt arises, then the desired fruit will not manifest.
