Being unable to see at night comes from gouging out the eyes of an owl. Being mute comes from slandering the holy Dharma. Being deaf comes from not liking to hear the Dharma. Having sparse teeth comes from craving feet and bones. Having a crooked nose comes from burning incense that doesn't smell good and offering it to the Buddha. Having a harelip comes from piercing the mouths of fish. Having yellow hair comes from plucking the hair of pigs. Having torn ears comes from piercing ears. Having a hunchback like a snake comes from wearing unclean clothes and facing the Buddha. Having a dark complexion comes from placing Buddha images in a house or hallway. Being blind and lame comes from not standing up upon seeing a Khenpo and Lama. Being hunched over comes from wearing unclean clothes and turning one's back to the Buddha image. Having a bulging forehead comes from not respectfully prostrating upon seeing the Buddha and placing one's hands on one's forehead. Having a short neck comes from bowing one's head and avoiding monks and lamas upon seeing them. Having liver pain comes from cutting and piercing the bodies of sentient beings. Being a leper comes from taking the wealth of others that one should not take. Having a lot of phlegm comes from giving cold food to others in winter. Having no children comes from killing many baby birds. Having many children comes from raising many sentient beings. Having a long life comes from having great compassion. Having a short life comes from taking life. Being wealthy comes from giving alms. Possessing horses and carriages comes from making offerings to the Three Jewels. Having sharp faculties comes from diligently studying and reciting sutras. Being foolish comes from the animal realm. Being a male or female slave comes from not repaying debts. Being short-tempered comes from monkeys. Again, being a leper comes from destroying the supports of the Three Jewels. Having incomplete limbs comes from cutting off the limbs of sentient beings. Being venomous comes from snakes and scorpions. Having complete six faculties comes from keeping vows. Having incomplete six faculties comes from breaking vows. Having little cleanliness comes from not making offerings to the noble ones. Liking singing, dancing, and music comes from being a musician.

Comes from. Those with great desire come from birds. Those with warts come from knocking. Those with poor speech come from speaking harsh words. Those without genitals come from castrating dogs, pigs, and horses. Those with short tongues come from scolding monks and lamas, and secretly slandering them. Those who commit adultery with another's wife are reborn as mandarin ducks and purple ducks. Those who deceive relatives and friends are reborn as swallows. Those who use the words of sutras and treatises but are stingy and do not show them to others are reborn as field worms after their lifespan ends. Those who like to carry bows and arrows and ride horses are reborn as jumping animals and wolves in the next life. Those who like short hair and wearing headdresses are reborn as long-beaked worms in the next life. Those who like to lie down and eat are reborn as pigs in the next life. Those who like silk and satin clothes are reborn as small sparrows. Those who like to repeat unpleasant sounds and joke are reborn as parrots. Those who like to gossip are reborn as six-headed parasites in the next life. Those who like to joke inappropriately are reborn as ignorant worms in the next life. Those who like to spread bad words are reborn as maggots in the next life. Those who like to harm others and do evil, and are greedy for talk, are reborn as foxes in the next life. Those who like to frighten others are reborn as tumbling worms in the next life. Those who wear wooden shoes and enter temples in their previous life are reborn as horses in the next life. Those who indulge in lust in their previous life are reborn as beetles in this life. Those who use the monastery's mill and pestle in their previous life are reborn as head-bumping worms in this life. Those who obstruct the food of sentient beings are reborn as ostriches. Those who steal the monastery's water in their previous life are reborn as fish and turtles and other aquatic creatures. Those who slander the monastery in their previous life are reborn as unclean worms. Those who steal the monastery's fruits are reborn as dung-eating worms. Those who steal the monastery's property are reborn as mill-turning donkeys and oxen. Those who forcibly borrow the monastery's property are reborn as pigeons. Those who scold the monastery are reborn as worms on the necks of oxen.
