They both gazed at him with great faith, and because a young child developed a compassionate heart towards the eyes of the fierce Brahmin, thinking, 'I cannot bear to witness the impermanence of the deity,' they passed away at that very moment, completely transcending all desire realms, and were born in the world of Brahma. Afterwards, the yakshas dwelling on the earth and the yakshas wandering in the sky, knowing of King Moonbeam's efforts in this way, began to lament, 'Alas! In this garden of gems and the essence of jewels, I have given away my head countless times, and no one has hindered me. Therefore, goddess, please do not hinder me from begging for the essence of my limbs. Goddess, where I completely gave myself to the tigress, and with just one giving of my body, caused the Bodhisattva Maitreya to postpone entering forty kalpas, that place is here. Then, that goddess saw the great miraculous power of King Moonlight, and great joy arose in her mind towards the king, and she became silent. Then, King Moonlight began to make a true aspiration: Whoever dwells in the assembly of the garden, gods, nagas, yakshas, gandharvas, kinnaras, listen! I am performing a supreme giving in this garden, and the most supreme giving of giving, the giving of completely giving away one's own head. My giving away my head is not for the sake of a king, nor for the sake of heaven, nor for the sake of Indra, nor for the sake of Mara, nor for the sake of Brahma, nor for the sake of the land of a Chakravartin, but rather, in order to attain unsurpassed, perfect, complete enlightenment here, and thereby tame the untamed sentient beings, liberate the unliberated, save the unsaved, allow the breathless to breathe, and cause those who have not completely passed beyond suffering to pass beyond suffering. May this truth and the word of truth cause my labor to bear fruit! May relics the size of mustard seeds arise even after I have passed into complete nirvana! May a great stupa arise in the center of this garden of gems and jewels, a stupa that is superior to all stupas! May any sentient being who is weary in body and mind come to prostrate before this great stupa! May they see the supreme relics placed there, which are superior to all stupas, and thereby eliminate weariness! After eliminating weariness, if crowds of people come to my stupa and make offerings, may they also be inclined towards heaven and liberation! Having said this, he tied his topknot to a champaka tree and called out to a Brahmin.
