or did they think they were born elsewhere? Then, in order to generate faith in them, the Bhagavan manifested emanations. Seeing those emanations, they thought, "Alas! We have neither died and transmigrated from here, nor have we been born elsewhere. However, by the power of this unprecedented sentient being's appearance, our various afflictions have been completely pacified!" Then, they became exceedingly delighted in their minds towards the emanations. As a result, the karma that would cause sentient beings to experience hell was exhausted, and they would take rebirth among gods and humans, wherever they were fit to be vessels of truth. Those who went upwards were the retinues of the Four Great Kings, the Thirty-three, the Yama, the Tushita, the Nirmāṇarati, the Paranirmitavaśavartin, the Brahma retinues, the Brahma Purohitas, the Great Brahmas, the Lesser Light, the Immeasurable Light, the Clear Light, the Lesser Virtue, the Immeasurable Virtue, the Increasing Virtue, the Cloudless, the Merit-born, the Great Fruit, the Non-great, the Non-afflicted, the Abundant Appearance, the Extremely Visible, and up to the gods of Akanishta. Having gone there, they proclaimed the sounds of impermanence, suffering, emptiness, and selflessness. They also recited two verses: "Strive for definite emergence! Engage in the Buddha's teachings! Like an elephant destroying a reed house, Overcome the host of the Lord of Death!" "Whoever in this very Dharma-Vinaya Conducts themselves with mindfulness, Having completely abandoned the cycle of birth, Will bring suffering to an end." Thus they proclaimed. Then, those rays of light circled the three-thousand great-thousand world system and followed after the Bhagavan himself. If the Bhagavan wished to foretell past karma, they would disappear into the hem of the Bhagavan's garment. If he wished to foretell future karma, they would disappear in front of him. If he wished to foretell that a sentient being would be born in hell, they would disappear into the soles of his feet.

it will not appear. If it is desired to prophesy rebirth as an animal, it will not appear on the heel of the foot. If it is desired to prophesy rebirth as a hungry ghost, it will not appear on the big toe. If it is desired to prophesy rebirth as a human, it will not appear on the two knees. If it is desired to prophesy rebirth as a powerful wheel-turning king, it will not appear on the palm of the left hand. If it is desired to prophesy rebirth as a wheel-turning king, it will not appear on the palm of the right hand. If it is desired to prophesy rebirth as a god, it will not appear on the navel. If it is desired to prophesy the enlightenment of a Hearer, it will not appear on the face. If it is desired to prophesy the enlightenment of a Pratyekabuddha, it will not appear on the tuft of hair between the eyebrows. If it is desired to prophesy the unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment, it will not appear on the crown of the head. Then, those rays circumambulated the Blessed One three times, and disappeared into the crown of the Blessed One's head. Then, the Venerable Ananda, with his palms joined, asked the Blessed One: "Various lights, interwoven with a thousand colors, have emerged from the door of your mouth. They illuminate all directions, just as the rising sun does." He further inquired in verse: "The Buddha, free from frivolity, not delighting in gluttony, having abandoned negligence, is the sacred source for beings. The victorious, the conqueror of enemies, does not show a smile like a lotus root or conch shell without cause or condition. Since you, the steadfast one, know the opportune time with your wisdom, I beseech you, O ascetic king, may those who seek solitude and listen, dispel the doubts that have arisen in the good ones with the steadfast and excellent speech of the Buddha, the supreme among humans. Lords, perfect Buddhas, steadfast like the ocean and the king of mountains, do not usually smile. For what reason does the hero show a smile? Most people wish to hear this from you." The Blessed One replied: "Ananda, it is so, it is so. Ananda, the Tathagata, the Arhat, the perfectly enlightened Buddha

They do not smile without a cause or reason. Venerable Ananda, have you seen how King Panchala has shown me such respect? Venerable one, I have seen it. Venerable Ananda, this King Panchala, by completely abandoning the roots of virtue, the generation of the mind of enlightenment, and the Dharma to be given as charity, will perfectly accomplish the Bodhi to be perfectly accomplished in three countless eons. Having perfected the six perfections, completely embraced by great compassion, he will become a perfectly complete Buddha endowed with the ten powers, the four fearlessnesses, the three unmixed mindfulnesses, and great compassion, named the Buddha Supreme Fragrance, and will appear in the world. His Dharma to be given as charity is that which makes my mind rejoice. After the Blessed One spoke thus, those monks rejoiced and greatly praised what the Blessed One had said. The Hundred Deeds of the Wise and the Foolish, Volume Three, entitled Incense. The Buddha, the Blessed One, was honored by kings, great ministers, wealthy people, palace attendants, merchants, captains, gods, nagas, yakshas, asuras, garudas, kinnaras, and kumbhandas. He was made a guru, depicted, and offered to. The Buddha, the Blessed One, who is offered to and known by gods, nagas, yakshas, asuras, garudas, kinnaras, and kumbhandas, is endowed with great merit, and has obtained robes, food, bedding, cushions, medicine, and medical supplies. Together with the Sangha of Hearers, he was dwelling in Shravasti, in the Jeta Grove of Prince Jeta, in the Anathapindika's Garden. At that time, in Shravasti, two merchants were in disagreement with each other, one of whom had faith in Purna Kashyapa, and the other had faith in the Buddha, the Blessed One. Then, the two of them decided to have a conversation with each other, and the upasaka of Purna Kashyapa said:
