These people, wherever they are born, are always killed by Sorangchen, and I have placed them in virtue in all lifetimes. If I could clearly remember what I did in the past and could prevent the killing, now that I have manifestly become enlightened, possessing perfect qualities and completely exhausting sins, what need is there to mention taming these people? The king again asked the Blessed One, "What did these people do in the past that they are always killed by Sorangchen in every lifetime?" The Blessed One said to the king: Great King, listen carefully and I will explain. In the past, beyond countless eons, in this Jambudvipa, there was a country called Dara, ruled by King Baladhara. That king had two sons, who were handsome, pleasing to look at, and skilled. The younger son thought to himself, "If my father passes away, my elder brother will become king. If I, being young, cannot obtain the kingdom, and if I am born as a human but cannot obtain the kingdom, what good is it to live as an ordinary person? I should go to a secluded place and seek the path of a hermit." So he went to the king and said, "I desire to seek the path of a hermit in a secluded place. If you love me, do not prevent me from this desire." He pleaded again and again, and the king granted his request, so he went to a secluded place. After many years, the old king passed away, and the elder brother ascended the throne. The elder brother, after ascending the throne, soon fell ill and passed away, leaving no one to inherit the kingdom. The ministers gathered together to discuss what to do. One of the ministers said, "The great king has a younger son who is now practicing as a hermit in the mountains. Let us invite him back and enthrone him as king." The ministers said this: "Even if black snow falls from the sky, or a black snake grows on your head, we will not forgive you, do not speak anymore!" When the king heard these words, he thought that he would surely be killed now, and angrily said to the ministers, "I used to live in the mountains, because I did not like the world, so I was forced to become king, but now you want to kill me. Wherever I am reborn, I hope you meet me, and I will kill you too!" Although he made such a vow, he was not forgiven and was killed. That great king at that time, in that era, that righteous king was the current Angulimala. At that time, many people agreed to kill the king, and these people were killed by Angulimala, and they were always killed by Angulimala. The king knelt on the ground and prayed to the Bhagavan, "If the monk Angulimala has killed so many people, after obtaining the result in that way, will he experience the ripening of the Vipaka result?" The Bhagavan replied, "Great king, if you commit sins, you will definitely experience the ripening of the Vipaka result. This monk is now in his dwelling, experiencing the flames of the hell of sentient beings burning from all the pores, experiencing unbearable suffering." After that, in order for the many attendants to understand that if they commit sins, they will definitely recognize the ripening of sins, the Bhagavan said to one monk, "Monk, take the navel and go to the door of the monk Angulimala.
