Holding the jewels in his hands, he prayed thus: "If this jewel is truly a wish-fulfilling jewel, may I fly into the sky." As soon as he said this, he flew into the sky, escaped the obstacles of the ocean, and reached the seashore. There he rested a little, and fell asleep on the way of resting. At that time, the small dragons of the ocean discussed this: "In this ocean, there are only these three jewels, and now this person has taken all three. If this jewel has merits, we also need it, so let's steal it." So after discussing, when the Bodhisattva fell asleep, the wish-fulfilling jewel was stolen back by the dragons. When the Bodhisattva woke up and looked, the jewel was gone, and he thought: "This must have been stolen by the dragons of the ocean. What power do I have? I will scoop out the seawater and dry it up." Thinking that he would not return empty-handed until he got the jewel back, he made a vow. He went to the seashore, took a turtle shell, and scooped out the seawater with both hands. At that time, the sea god knew his thoughts and said to him: "This ocean is deep and vast, with three thousand three hundred yojanas. Even if all the people of Jambudvipa came, they would not be able to dry up the seawater, let alone you alone? It is futile." The Bodhisattva said: "If a person does things sincerely, there is nothing that cannot be accomplished. After I get the jewel, I want to benefit and bring happiness to all beings. With this merit, I will attain enlightenment. If I don't lose heart, why can't I dry up this ocean?" At that time, the gods such as Vishnu saw from afar that the Bodhisattva was scooping out the seawater alone with body and mind in harmony, and was working hard for the benefit of many beings, and thought that they should also help the Bodhisattva. So they persuaded each other, and everyone came to the Bodhisattva's side, and the Bodhisattva scooped water with a vessel.

Those nagas became frightened and terrified, and they came before the Bodhisattva and said, "Stop! Do not let the ocean dry up!" And the Bodhisattva stopped. Then the nagas asked the Bodhisattva, "What do you need this precious jewel for?" The Bodhisattva said, "I need it for the benefit of sentient beings." The nagas said, "If you need it for the benefit of sentient beings, there are also many sentient beings in the ocean. Why do you take it away?" The Bodhisattva said, "Although those who dwell in the ocean are also sentient beings, they do not have the suffering of poverty. The sentient beings of Jambudvipa harm and injure each other for the sake of wealth. They complete the ten non-virtuous actions, and when their lives end, they are all born in the hells. I need this jewel because I have compassion for them." The nagas took out the precious jewel and gave it back to the Bodhisattva. The sea god, seeing that the Bodhisattva was so diligent and steadfast, thought, "This one will surely attain enlightenment." He thought, "When will he manifest enlightenment? May I also become his best attendant." He made this aspiration. Then the Bodhisattva took back the jewel and flew into the sky above. He came to his dwelling and asked, "Are the previous merchant friends still here? Did they leave safely?" The merchant friends had also left safely. They were happy with each other, and the friends found it amazing and wonderful. Then, he went to the door of the Brahmin Kapili. When they heard that the Bodhisattva had returned from the ocean, everyone welcomed him at the door and was very happy. They held a great feast with the merchant friends. At that time, the parents of the Great Giver, having lost their son, constantly wept, so that both parents' eyes became dim. When the son returned from the ocean and met his parents, The son prostrated to his parents. Grasping their hands, they recognized him as their son. "Great Giver, after you abandoned us and left, our eyes became dim. What did you find when you went to the ocean?" When asked, the Great Giver gave a precious jewel into his father's hand, saying, "I found this." The parents took it and held it, saying, "There were already many such stones in my treasury. Why did you need to suffer and toil like this?" Then the Bodhisattva took back the jewel and merely wiped his parents' eyes with it. Just as a strong wind blows away clouds, both parents' eyes became clearer than before. Then both parents were delighted and carefully examined the jewel, saying, "This is indeed a precious jewel, it has eliminated suffering." Then the Great Giver held the jewel and said, "If you are truly a wish-fulfilling jewel, may a seat of seven precious substances spring forth from beneath my parents, and may a jeweled canopy cover above." As soon as he made the prayer, it was fulfilled, and all the king's treasuries were filled. Then the king sent a messenger, riding an elephant that could travel a hundred thousand yojanas, to proclaim to all the people of Jambudvipa: "The Great Giver has found a wish-fulfilling jewel from the ocean. By virtue of this meritorious jewel, from now for seven days, jewels and other items, clothes, food, and all necessities will fall like rain. Please everyone take whatever you need at your leisure." Having proclaimed this everywhere, the Great Giver bathed and put on new clothes.
