was bound, and its radiance had not changed. That girl prostrated with her five lower limbs touching the ground, and said to the monk: "My constant hope has been fulfilled today. I have something to say to you, which I have always remembered but never had the opportunity. If you also always think of me, please fulfill my wish. In this house, there are jewels, gold, silver, and many treasuries, like the treasure of Vaishravana (Tibetan: རྣམ་ཐོས་ཀྱི་བུ།), but there is no owner. Please be the owner of this house along with me. I will be your servant, and give you respect and service. Do not go against these, and please fulfill my wish." The monk thought: "What sinful deed have I done that I have encountered such a circumstance? I would rather lose my body and life than let the precepts established by the Buddhas of the three times be broken. In the past, even if monks went to brothels, they would rather jump into a pit of fire than let the precepts be broken. Furthermore, monks were captured by wild men, tied to grass and blown by the wind, scorched by the sun, and eaten by many insects, but in order to protect the precepts, they would rather cut grass than move. Even if a crow stole a priceless jewel and a monk saw it, in order to protect the precepts, they would rather endure suffering than speak. When a ship broke, even if a monk grabbed a plank of wood, in order to protect the precepts, they would give those planks to fellow monks of higher status, and drown in the sea, etc. Those were all solely for the sake of protecting the precepts as attendants of the Buddha, shouldn't we protect them? The Tathagata is also solely their teacher, isn't he our teacher? For example, if a champaka flower (Sanskrit: campaka) is squeezed together with wormwood, the fragrance of the champaka flower will permeate the wormwood oil, am I not also like that? Having been completely taken over by a virtuous friend, why should I do sinful and unwholesome deeds today? I would rather lose my body and life than ever let the precepts be broken, and I must not disgrace the lineage of the Buddha, Dharma, Sangha, parents, teachers, and lamas. Again,

Thinking: If I run away, that girl, tormented by desire, without any shame, will surely catch me and slander me. If the villagers see it, I will be blamed. I must end my life in this room. Thinking this, he said to the girl: Close the door tightly! I have a little work to do in this room, and after I finish, I will meet you. After giving this instruction, after the girl went out to close the door, the monk entered a room and locked the door tightly. Finding a razor inside, he was very happy, took off the clothes he was wearing, hung them on the rack, put his palms together, and facing the city of Kushinagar, the place where the Buddha passed away into Nirvana, knelt on the ground with both knees, and made a vow: I have not abandoned the Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha; I have not abandoned the Khenpo and Acharya; I have not abandoned the precepts, but I am abandoning this body in order to protect the precepts. Wherever I am reborn, may I be ordained in the Buddha's teachings, practice pure Brahmacharya, exhaust all defilements, and attain fruition. After making this aspiration, he cut his own throat and ended his life. Blood covered his whole body, and his body was also stained red with blood. At this time, the girl thought: It's taking too long. She went to the door and called out, but no one answered. The girl opened the door and saw that he had already ended his life. Things did not turn out as she had expected, and her desire also subsided. The girl was very unhappy, tearing her hair in pain, scratching her face with her nails, and rolling on the ground crying. The girl's parents returned from the banquet and knocked on the door and called out, but the girl did not say a word. So they sent someone in to open the door, and seeing the girl in that state, they asked her: What's wrong with you? Did someone joke with you and ruin your reputation? The girl did not say a word, thinking in her heart: If I tell the truth, it would be very shameful. If I say that the monk joked with me, that would be slandering the noble one, and sentient beings would fall into hell because of it, suffering.

will suffer many pains. Thinking, I will speak honestly without deceiving. I was alone guarding the house. That novice came to receive the teacher's alms. I, burned by the fire of desire, lifted the novice. Because the discipline was broken, the mind could not change. That novice devised a way to enter the room and then passed away. This dirty body of mine, on top of having already defiled the entire vessel, has committed an unforgivable crime, I am not happy. She said that. The daughter's parents heard it and were amazed. That is because, completely recognized by the nature of defilements, just like that. Said to the daughter: All dharmas are impermanent, do not grieve. After advising thus, entered the room and looked, saw the novice's bones soaked in blood like red sandalwood. After bowing, said: For the sake of guarding the Buddha's discipline, not even caring for body and life, it is excellent. Thus praised. At that time, the king's law stipulated that if a monk passed away in a layman's house, a thousand gold coins must be offered. At that time, that layperson also took a thousand gold coins and went to the palace, and reported to the great king: I have committed a crime, please accept these gold coins. The king said to him: You in my country believe in the Three Jewels, have faith in the Dharma, are naturally upright, and you are the only one whose behavior has fallen, what crime have you committed? The layperson said: My daughter has been defiled, praised the merit of how the novice guarded the discipline, and reported the details of what happened. The king said: The novice, for the sake of guarding the discipline, did not even care for body and life, you have no crime. Take the gold coins and go home. I will also go to your house to make some offerings to that novice. Having said that, struck the golden drum, summoned all the retinue, as attendants, to go to the layperson's house. Thus ordered. After that, the king went to his house,
