The Chapter on Kyunti. Thus have I heard. Once, the Blessed One was dwelling in Shravasti, in the Jeta Grove of Anathapindika's Garden. At that time, the Venerable Shariputra, three times during the day and night, observed with his divine eye which sentient beings had the potential to be tamed, and he would go to those who had the reason to be tamed. At another time, some merchants were going to another country for trade, and they took a dog with them. On the way, that dog stole meat from a merchant, and that merchant became angry, broke the dog's leg, and abandoned it in the wilderness and left. Then, Shariputra, observing with his divine eye, saw that the dog was hungry, so he put on his Dharma robes, took his bowl, begged for alms, and immediately flew into the sky, went to the dog's side, and generated a mind of loving-kindness and compassion. He fed the dog with food. The dog ate the food and was very happy. Shariputra taught the dog the true Dharma, and the dog also passed away at that time and was reborn as the son of a Brahmin in Shravasti. At another time, Shariputra went alone to beg for alms and went to the door of a Brahmin's house. That Brahmin said to Shariputra, "Why do you go alone to beg for alms? Don't you have a novice?" Shariputra said, "I don't have a novice, so I go alone to beg for alms. I heard that you have a son. Can you give him to me?" The Brahmin said, "I have a son named Kyunti. He is still young and can't do anything, so I will give him to you when he grows up." Shariputra heard these words, kept them in mind, and returned to the Jeta Grove of Prince Jeta. After seven years, he went to the Brahmin's house and asked that Brahmin for his son, and that Brahmin also gave his son to Shariputra. Shariputra also took that son and went to the Jeta Grove of Prince Jeta. He ordained him as a novice and taught him various aspects of the true Dharma, and his mind was liberated. He became an Arhat and attained the six supernormal powers and all the qualities. 如果考察他获得（果位）后与导师相遇并获得果位的原因，是因为前世做了一只饥饿的狗。因为我的导师舍利子的恩德，他获得了人身和果位，看到并认识到这一点后非常高兴，心想： 我依靠这位导师的恩德从痛苦中解脱了！现在我活着的时候，为了侍奉导师，我不受比丘戒。当时，阿难向世尊禀告：这位沙弥过去做了什么恶业而转生为狗？做了什么善根而获得解脱？世尊告诉阿难：过去在佛陀迦叶波时期，一些比丘住在一起。其中有一位年轻的比丘声音很好听，如果他赞颂和歌唱，所有人都很难听到。当时有一位年长的比丘声音不好听，但他仍然赞颂、唱偈和歌唱。那位年长的比丘是一位阿罗汉，具有所有修行的功德。在另一个时候，那位声音好听的年轻比丘对那位声音不好听的年长比丘说：你的声音像狗叫一样！说了诽谤的话。然后，那位年长的比丘问那位年轻的比丘：你认识我吗？他回答说：我认识你，你是佛陀迦叶波的常住比丘。年长的比丘说：我是阿罗汉，具有修行的功德。那位年轻的比丘感到害怕和恐惧，后悔并向他忏悔。那位年长的比丘虽然给予了忏悔，但由于说了恶语的缘故，五百世中总是转生为狗。因为出家并守护戒律，所以在这里与我相遇并获得解脱。当时，世尊说了这些话后，阿难等许多眷属都随喜赞叹，非常高兴。《沙弥居提品》第五十一（品）。《贤愚经》圆满结束。

If we examine how he obtained (the fruit) after meeting the teacher and obtaining the fruit, it is because he was a hungry dog in his previous life. Because of the kindness of my teacher Shariputra, he obtained a human body and the fruit. Seeing and realizing this, he was very happy and thought: I have been liberated from suffering through the kindness of this teacher! Now, as long as I live, I will not take the full ordination of a Bhikshu in order to serve the teacher. At that time, Ananda reported to the Bhagavan: What evil deeds did this Shramanera commit in the past that he was reborn as a dog? What roots of virtue did he do to be liberated? The Bhagavan told Ananda: In the past, during the time of Buddha Kashyapa, some Bhikshus lived together. Among them was a young Bhikshu with a beautiful voice, and if he praised and sang, it was difficult for everyone to hear. At that time, there was an old Bhikshu with an unpleasant voice, but he still praised, chanted verses, and sang. That old Bhikshu was an Arhat, possessing all the merits of practice. At another time, that young Bhikshu with a beautiful voice said to that old Bhikshu with an unpleasant voice: Your voice is like a dog barking! He spoke words of slander. Then, that old Bhikshu asked that young Bhikshu: Do you know me? He replied: I know you, you are the resident Bhikshu of Buddha Kashyapa. The old Bhikshu said: I am an Arhat, possessing the merits of practice. That young Bhikshu felt fear and dread, repented and confessed to him. Although that old Bhikshu granted repentance, due to speaking evil words, he was always reborn as a dog for five hundred lifetimes. Because he renounced and kept the precepts, he met me here and was liberated. At that time, the Bhagavan spoke these words, and Ananda and many other attendants rejoiced and were very happy. The Fifty-first (chapter), "The Chapter of Shramanera Kutide." The Sutra of the Wise and the Foolish is completely finished.
