Those that have already arisen (wholesome roots) should be brought to complete maturity. Whose roots of virtue have matured, should be pierced with the sword of wisdom. For whom, to let the world adorned by the appearance of the Buddha bear fruit, (the Buddha) enters into the contemplation of wisdom. The ocean is the abode of aquatic creatures, the waves of the seasons may pass, but for the sons to be tamed, the Buddha will not miss the opportunity. Then, the Blessed One thought: I should make Indra and his eighty thousand retinue rejoice in the truth. Thinking thus, he disappeared from Rajagriha, and in the south of Rajagriha, in the north of the place called the Brahmin village Mango Grove, he went to the rock cave of King Videha, and entered into the fire element samadhi. At that time, Indra thought: Now is the time for me to request the Blessed One for a prophecy. So, with eighty thousand heavenly retinue, the daughters of Asuras, such as Delight, and the son of the Gandharva, Five Crests, together, he disappeared from the Thirty-Three Heavens, and came to Videha. There, the light of Indra and thousands of other gods filled the entire Videha with great light. Afterwards, Indra entered the rock cave of the King of Power, and saw the Blessed One entering the fire element samadhi. Having seen this, he thought: Since the Buddha, the Blessed One, has entered the fire element samadhi, then the time for me to go to see the Blessed One, to behold the Blessed One, and to serve the Blessed One has not yet come. So, he remained silent for a moment, and said to the son of the Gandharva, Five Crests: Five Crests, can you awaken the Blessed One first? If that is done, it will be easier for us to go to see and serve afterwards. Five Crests said: Kauśika (कौशिक,kauśika, कौशिक, कौशिक), I am fully capable. Having said this, he took five hundred attendants and a lyre of lapis lazuli, went to where the Blessed One was, and after arriving, with those verses suitable for the chief and the Arhat, he praised the Blessed One.

Then, he requested (the Buddha) to rise. Then, he went to where Indra, the lord of the gods, was, and after arriving, he said to Indra: Kauśika (कौषिका, Kauśika, 憍尸迦, Indra's name), the Blessed One has risen, now is the time for you to go see the Blessed One and make offerings. Then, the Blessed One thought: Alas, this cave of Indra is very narrow, and the retinue of gods is very numerous. How should I bless this cave so that Indra and his retinue can easily listen to the Dharma and sit comfortably? Thinking this, the Blessed One blessed Indra's cave to become spacious. Then, Indra, the lord of the gods, together with the daughter of the Asuras, Good Birth, and eighty thousand gods, went to where the Blessed One was, and after arriving, they bowed their heads to the feet of the Blessed One, and sat before the Blessed One to listen to the Dharma. Indra, the lord of the gods, told the Blessed One the meaning of the previous story, and asked: Venerable One, what is the behavior of gods, humans, Asuras, Nagas, sky-goers, Gandharvas, or other different bodies? The Blessed One replied: Kauśika (कौषिका, Kauśika, 憍尸迦, Indra's name), the behavior of gods, humans, Asuras, Nagas, sky-goers, Gandharvas, or other different bodies is jealousy and stinginess. Although they think in their hearts: Alas, I should live in a place without hatred, without competition, without harm, without strife, without fault-finding, without rivalry, without contention. However, they actually live in a place full of hatred, full of competition, full of harm, full of strife, full of fault-finding, full of rivalry, and full of contention. Indra said: Venerable One, it is indeed so, it is indeed so. The behavior of gods, humans, Asuras, Nagas, sky-goers, Gandharvas, or other different bodies is jealousy and
